Sidney Powell Suspended from Twitter After Disavowal by Trump Campaign

Attorney Sidney Powell no longer operates in an official capacity for President Donald Trump’s legal team, which Twitter saw as the perfect opportunity to suspend her account for twelve hours.

Powell was suspended from Twitter for twelve hours following her departure from the Trump legal team on Sunday.

General Michael Flynn tweeted: “@SidneyPowell1 has been suspended from Twitter for 12 hours. She understands the WH press release & agrees with it. She is staying the course to prove the massive deliberate election fraud that robbed #WeThePeople of our votes for President Trump & other Republican candidates.”

The Trump Campaign released a statement on Nov. 22 concerning the president’s legal team, which stated, “Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump legal team. She is also not a lawyer for the president in his personal capacity.”

“I understand today's press release," said Powell according to CBS News. "I will continue to represent #WeThePeople who had their votes for Trump and other Republicans stolen by massive fraud through Dominion and Smartmatic, and we will be filing suit soon. The chips will fall where they may, and we will defend the foundations of this great Republic. #KrakenOnSteroids.”

It appears as though Powell’s account has since been restored. she has been able to retweet posts made on November 23. Twitter did not respond to a request to confirm whether Powell’s account had been restored.

This is not the first time that Twitter has censored an account related to the presidential election. Even before the election, Twitter locked the New York Post’s account for seventeen days after the Post published an article that claimed to expose alleged corrupt dealings of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine. Twitter has also faced immense pressure to remove Trump from the platform after he leaves office.
