Libs of TikTok Slams Disney’s Big Tech Ad Double Standard

Libs of TikTok bashed “anti-free speech” Disney for having a double standard for its advertising on social media.

The Disney Company pulled ads on X (formerly Twitter), which is owned by Elon Musk, but did not do the same on Meta or TikTok despite serious allegations of rampant sexual exploitation and foreign manipulation, respectively. Now, a recent report says Disney actually increased its spending on ads for Meta’s Instagram, despite the exploitation problem there. And the popular Libs of TikTok account, run by Chaya Raichik, is calling woke Disney’s bluff.

Raichik’s Libs of TikTok shared screenshots of two articles on X on Dec. 14. One article was from Reuters and featured the headline: “Disney, Comcast increase US ad spending on Instagram after dropping Musk's X - report.” The second was from The Christian Post headlined: “Instagram Reels exposing kids to ‘overtly sexual content’ next to Disney ads: report.” It seems Disney has a conscience only when it aligns with the leftist agenda.

“.@Disney announced they’re increasing their ad spend on Instagram despite their ads showing up near sexualized content for kids,” Libs of TikTok posted. “Yet they pulled their advertising from X after pressure from a Media Matters hoax hit piece.”

Raichik offered an explanation. “It’s almost as if they’re just anti-free speech activists suffering from Elon Derangement Syndrome and don’t really care at all what content their ads pop up near,” she added.

This isn’t the only example of Disney’s apparent hypocritical prejudice against X. The company’s Disney+ and Hulu recently partnered with TikTok through a new special streaming deal.

TikTok proudly announced in a press release, “Disney+ and Hulu will stream highlights from the first-of-its-kind In The Mix music event, as a one hour special, beginning on December 15.” The concert, which happened in Mesa, Arizona, reportedly featured celebrities including rapper Cardi B. and singer Niall Horan. TikTok’s Global Head of Music Partnerships and Programming Paul Hourican celebrated the Disney partnerships, “We wanted to make sure that if you couldn’t make it to Arizona or catch the global livestreams on TikTok, that our music-loving community would still have a way to watch In The Mix, and Disney+ and Hulu are making that a reality.”

The Chinese Communist government-tied app boasted of its one billion users, “TikTok has become the home of music discovery and the place where creativity and collaboration thrive.” Disney is helping promote TikTok, which was caught censoring content apparently to please the CCP. TikTok boasted in October in a press statement that it had removed “over 500,000 videos and closed 8,000 livestreams” related to the Hamas-Israel conflict.

Disney was among more than a dozen companies to pull X ads over allegations of an anti-Semitism problem on the platform but those same companies all remain active on TikTok. Last week, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) also called out the Disney’s and other companies’ hypocrisy in ignoring TikTok‘s ties to the Chinese Communist government while boycotting X.
