These Mother’s Day Ads Celebrate a Trait All Moms Share

Moms wear so many hats, but there’s a quality they all share: strength. In their Mother’s Day ads, two brands heartwarmingly highlighted this trait.

“Once a Mother, Always a Giant”

As the director of Brawny’s 2017 Mother’s Day spot noted, the ad celebrates mom through a "unique perspective" – the "eyes of a child."

The paper towel brand placed Snapchat spectacles – glasses with embedded cameras – on toddlers in order to visualize how children see their mothers. After splicing video segments together, the result was an adorable compilation of moms and their kids sharing messy and sweet moments.

“The inspiration for this video was really thinking back to when we were little kids,” explained Karen X, the director. “Our moms are giant and they are invincible and they are our whole world.”

“All Hail the Carhartt Woman”

Carhartt, a brand known for its toughness, thinks that’s something moms should be known for too.

In “All Hail the Carhartt Woman,” a young girl narrates as the camera pans between shots of strong women doing a variety of jobs, from farming to construction to mechanics.

“Today in school, we learned about Rosie the Riveter,” the girl states. “My teacher said she could build or fix anything. She said she could take on the world.”

“She reminds me of you, mom,” the voiceover continues. “You’re not afraid of anything. You make me feel like I’m the luckiest kid alive. I love you, mom."

“While the film is certainly an ode to moms everywhere,” the brand explained in its YouTube description of the ad, “it's meant for any woman, man or child, who comes from a strong woman.”

I think most can agree -- that's all of us.
