Bruce Jenner, who now goes by "Caitlyn," is blogging for the Huffington Post.
At the beginning of the week, the news outlet revealed that Jenner will be authoring an original series about LGBT issues called “The Real Me.”
“First of all, I want to thank you all for your support,” Jenner began in Monday’s inaugural post. “The response to my new journey has been overwhelmingly positive.”
And positively fawning, as least where the media is concerned. Since his Vanity Fair debut, the press has scrupulously avoided facing up to the fact that the Emperor has no clothes (or the Empress has no womb). Any cis-someone who has dared to commit such heresy has been heckled, hated and harried into using “she” and “her.”
In the blog, Jenner went on to discuss the “horror stor[ies]” that abound in the transgender community. “You wouldn't believe the types of ordeals these people have had, how they have had to literally fight for their own survival.”
Jenner is rightfully concerned. Transgender people should not be harassed or abused; yet, glorification is not the right or healthy response. People with mental issues need therapy. However, you’re a bigot if you say that, so the cause is rather hopeless.
“I have so much to discover and hope that you'll join me on this adventure,” the now famous transgender icon invited. “Let’s live our true selves and make a positive difference while doing it.”
As he did with so much else, The Bard anticipated Jenner: “That he is mad, ‘tis true: ‘tis true ‘tis pity; and pity ‘tis, ‘tis true: a foolish figure.”
