Bush Derangement Syndrome Rears its Ugly Head on 'Code Black'

October 22nd, 2015 2:20 AM

It’s a liberal’s world and the rest of us just live in it. Even if it means sitting through random swipes at the last Republican president. Last night's episode of the CBS medical drama Code Black landed a quick karate chop at the Bush family - because what could be more original in the year 2015?

In this episode, “Sometimes It’s a Zebra,” a chef named Dennis is an alcoholic being monitored as he goes through withdrawal. He's taken to Angels Hospital after he collapsed on the way to his daughter’s wedding. As is hospital policy, he must stay in the Emergency Room until the process is complete, as it can be fatal. Sure enough, as he lies in the hospital bed, writhing in physical discomfort, Leanne (Marcia Gay Hardin) and Christa (Bonnie Somerville) are treating him with medicines.

To take his mind off the pain of withdrawal, Christa asks him about the wedding and his daughter. He said she is great, except for her politics. It seems she and her fiancé are Bush supporters. No, not Jeb Bush. It’s every liberal parent's worst nightmare: George W. Bush!

Christa: Tell me about your daughter.

Chef: Well, Lindsay's beautiful, you know? You know, she's got a great spirit. [ Grunts ] Crazy laugh. I don't know. I think you'd like her. I'm just not a big fan of her politics, you know?

Christa: Well, you have to have something to fight about, right?

Chef: Yeah, her and her fiancé are supporters of Bush.

Leanne: Jeb?

Chef: No, no -- George W.

Who would have thought, seven years later and Bush Derangement Syndrome is still alive and well in liberal Hollywood. They just love having ole Dubya to kick around.
