CW’s ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Calls Caitlyn Jenner a Hero

Hero worship can be a great thing, no question about it. Except it’s normally better when those we lionize for heroism are in fact heroes. The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend could stand to learn a thing or two about that.

On Monday night’s episode, Paula (Donna Lynn Champlin) and Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) are stalking Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend Josh, hence the name of the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, when Paula likens Josh’s awful new girlfriend to the Kardashians. With one, very unfortunate exception:

Paula: Ugh, I hate her. She's worse than all the Kardashians combined. Except for Caitlyn, who is a national hero.

Yes, if national heroism was about Adam's apple shaving and hormone therapy, Bruce would certainly qualify. But fortunately it’s far more about courage in the face of danger and adversity, not “courage” while being handed reality TV shows, Courage Awards, and exorbitant speaking fees.

In case the CW is wondering what heroes look like, we can help.
