Evening Networks Ignore George Soros Connection in Trump Indictment Coverage

March 21st, 2023 5:26 PM

The ABC, CBS and NBC evening news shows conveniently ignored mentioning that the district attorney trying to secure an indictment against former President Donald Trump on dubious legal grounds is connected to leftist billionaire George Soros.

George Soros donated $1,000,000 to the racially-charged, defund-the-police group Color of Change PAC on May 14, 2021. Just a few days prior to Soros’ donation, Color of Change PAC announced it would spend $1 million to help elect radical leftist Alvin Bragg, who would later win his race for Manhattan, New York District Attorney in November 2021.

Color of Change PAC would later rescind half of that amount after “disturbing” allegations were made against Bragg by an unnamed woman, according to Daily Mail. Bragg made prosecuting Trump a centerpiece of his campaign, so it was no surprise when he later followed up on his promise.

NBC News Digital broke its “exclusive” story March 17, 2023 on how Bragg’s office and other government agencies were “prepping” for a possible Trump indictment. However, NBC News Digital didn’t mention the connection to Soros at all in its “exclusive.” The Big Three evening news networks were no better.

NBC Nightly News also ignored Bragg’s connections to Soros during its March 17 and March 20 broadcasts. ABC World News Tonight and CBS Evening News — neither of which covered the indictment news on March 17 — also neglected to disclose the Soros connection when the two networks finally covered Bragg’s politicized scheme on March 20. In fact, watching the coverage of Bragg’s gambit might make viewers think he was apolitical in nature. The Soros tie and Bragg's previous fixation with targeting Trump clearly shows this is not the case.

But there also may be a hidden reason why NBC’s Nightly News show decided not to disclose the Soros tie when it reported on the NBC News Digital exclusive. MRC Business released a three-part investigative series on Soros’ enormous ties to global media. In the reports, MRC Business revealed a connection between Soros and Nightly News anchor Lester Holt. Holt is listed as a board member on the Committee to Protect Journalists, which Soros fueled with at least $2,750,000 between 2018 and 2020 alone.

Soros has not been shy about his agenda to dramatically overhaul the U.S. criminal justice system into his personal political tool to further his soft-on-crime agenda, which in practice has led to significant spikes in urban crime rates.

Soros bragged in a July 31, 2022 op-ed how he “supported the election (and more recently the re-election) of prosecutors who support reform. I have done it transparently, and I have no intention of stopping.” Soros sneered that “Judging by the results, the public likes what it’s hearing.” He continued: “This agenda, aiming at both safety and justice, is based on both common sense and evidence. It’s popular. It’s effective.”

Soros is not kidding when he claims his pro-criminal “agenda” has been effective. The New York Post reported in November 2022 that Manhattan had seen a 30.5 percent surge in major crimes under Bragg’s leadership. More specifically, the Post noted that murders were up 14 percent from 2021; burglaries were up 45 percent; grand larceny spiked 53 percent and robbery “soared” 32 percent.
