The end of this rainbow touched on something far more treasured than a pot of gold.
On Thursday, a day before the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a rainbow rose from the site of the former World Trade Center towers to arch over the newly-constructed One World Trade Center. ABC and NBC took note of the “stunning” and “dazzling” spectacle during their September 11 morning news shows.
For Good Morning America, ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos highlighted the “remarkable image” of the “dazzling rainbow.”
Likewise, NBC anchor Natalie Morales noted the “stunning photo” of the “beautiful rainbow” receiving “lots of attention on social media” during Today.
“It just takes your breath away,” Morales later commented to co-anchors Willie Geist and Tamron Hall on Friday.
Hall pointed to the rainbow as a sign “to remind us of the beauty that comes out of pain.”
During Today’s fourth hour, co-anchor Hoda Kotb asked of the “iconic picture:” “It’s just interesting how sometimes Mother Nature does its thing, right?”
Or maybe – just maybe – there’s more to this than Mother Nature.
