Collectivism: a political or economic theory advocating collective control especially over production and distribution.

If Chuck Todd is right, our country is in trouble.  On Morning Joe today, discussing President Obama's "you didn't build that" remarks, NBC political director Todd opined that "half this country believes" we are about collectivism.  View the video after the jump.

Joe Scarborough jumped on Todd's remarks and Mika Brzezinski's reaction.Watch Todd express a view that should send chills down the spines of Americans who believe this country was built on individualism.

Todd spoke after a clip rolled of Mitt Romney criticizing President Obama's "you didn't build that" remarks.

CHUCK TODD: It's funny, it hit me: well, this is the divide between the two parties, which is, this individualism on the Republican side, and Democrats saying no, you know what?, there's a little bit more of a collective here. You can't, and they're going for the --

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Hold on.  Did you just say collective, that's what we're about?!

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?

SCARBOROUGH: Mika just said --

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: What's wrong with you?

SCARBOROUGH: Because we're not about about collectivism!

CHUCK TODD: By the way, I think half this country thinks we are. And I think half this country doesn't, which is why we are at an ideological split.

BRZEZINSKI: You know it. You just know what he is saying!

SCARBOROUGH: Collectivism!  I don't even want to take the next jump to what political philosophy that encompasses! I won't say the word here!
