Brian Williams Highlights Study Claiming Record High Temperatures in the Arctic

On Thursday’s NBC Nightly News, anchor Brian Williams resumed his interest in highlighting stories of concern to the environmentalist left as, uniquely among the broadcast network evening newscasts, he touted a study published in the journal Science which contends that temperatures in the Arctic are at a 2,000-year high, which the report blames on greenhouse gases. Williams: "A new study in the journal Science says temperatures in the Arctic are the warmest they have been in 2,000 years, and they’re blaming greenhouse gases and resulting global warming. Scientists said the Arctic should actually be colder than usual now because changes in the Earth’s orbit are causing it to get less sunlight."

One night earlier, Williams had notably stepped out of character by running a full story highlighting complaints by Europeans that the European Union was going too far in its effort to go green with its ban on old-fashioned lightbulbs in favor of a more fuel-efficient model which many find produces light of inferior quality to the traditional bulb.
