Talarico’s Claim He ‘Called Out’ Biden Is Fake News, Border Patrol Union Says

“JAMES TALARICO DOES NOT SUPPORT BORDER SECURITY,” the official union of U.S. Border Patrol declared Wednesday, responding to Democrat Texas Senate candidate James Talarico’s campaign ad claiming that he has backed securing the nation’s borders.

"I called out Joe Biden for failing us on the border," Talarico claims in a campaign ad released Monday, in his latest attempt to backtrack on past controversial, extremist comments.

But, his claim that he has called out Biden for not securing the border is nothing but fake news, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) explained in a post on X.com:

“JAMES TALARICO DOES NOT SUPPORT BORDER SECURITY: Talarico’s false claim that he called out the Biden Administration for failing on the border is nothing more than a #FakeNews political ad.”

“He labeled border security funding as ‘wasting money on dumb things,’ and instead supported diverting $800 million in funds away from protecting our borders,” the Border Patrol union recalls, reminding readers of Talarico’s record:

“He voted AGAINST creating a Border Protection Unit and he has called for ‘pathways’ to citizenship, aka ‘AMNESTY’ for illegal aliens.”

“[O]penly advocating for pathways to citizenship is NOT putting America First and will lead to the destruction of America as we know it,” the union’s X.com post says:

“At least 25 million illegal aliens invaded the US during the 4 years of the disastrous Biden Administration and openly advocating for pathways to citizenship is NOT putting America First and will lead to the destruction of America as we know it.”

“We CANNOT afford another disaster on our borders!” the Border Patrol union warns.

The Border Patrol union’s rejection of Talarico’s claim appears to be supported by the inability of his campaign to provide Fox News Digital with even a single example of him ever publicly criticizing Biden during his presidency. On the other hand, there are several examples of Talarico condemning border security efforts and supporting illegal immigration, Fox News reports:

“He labeled Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s border security policies as ‘atrocities’ and accused him of ‘hunting’ illegal immigrants. The Senate candidate also said he ‘taught a lot of undocumented students,’ and that those illegal aliens were more patriotic than Americans.”
