With less than 40 days remaining until the 2026 midterm elections, the Elitist Media are in full rehab mode for some of the left’s more controversial candidates. The latest example: NBC’s Kristen Welker, doing a little image rehab for Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
Watch as Welker reassures viewers that El-Sayed is absolutely, positively, pinky swear totally NOT a communist:

KRISTEN WELKER: Well, and Adrienne (Elrod), weigh in here, because when you talk about some of these candidates, we are seeing former Vice President Kamala Harris out on the trail. She was campaigning with Abdul El-Sayed, someone who President Trump by the way is trying to argue is a communist. He says “No, he is a capitalist.” He said that on this program.
Well, that settles it. If a Democrat said something then it is absolutely, positively true- especially when reported by the media.
We often talk about double standards, and it is not for naught. This is a great example of a media double standard at play. You never hear Elitist Media attempting to rehab a Republican Congressional candidate by saying that they are not a racist, sexist, misogynist, climate change denier, hate supporter, or whatever other pejorative of the day the left attempts to hang on them. In those cases, the media simply run with whatever the Democrat talking point of the day is.
However, consider what Welker is doing here with El-Sayed. She is clearly trying to rehab his image in spite of his known dalliance with communists such as the controversial streamer Hasan Piker, who he had at his Primary Night party, and who he invited to campaign with him. So the comparison is is apt and it is on point, but that label is simply too dangerous for a Democrat running for the United States Senate in Michigan.
Thus, Welker does what the Elitist Media dutifully do, which is to spin and obfuscate and rehabilitate a candidate with known deficiencies- a courtesy that is never, ever extended to a Republican candidate. The segment reminds us, as is often the case, that if it were not for double standards there would be none at all.
