BREAKING: Colombia’s President Petro Threatens To ‘Get Rid of Trump’

October 21st, 2025 12:12 AM

President Gustavo Petro of Colombia closed out his lengthy Univision interview with what could most reasonably be interpreted as a not-so-veiled threat against President Donald Trump. Challenged to negotiate with Trump, Petro said that Humanity’s solution was to “get rid” of him if he doesn’t change.

Watch that exchange below, as streamed on Univision’s YouTube channel on Monday, October 20th, 2025:

DANIEL CORONELL: Thank you very much, Mr. President for this extensive live conversation. I leave with concern-

GUSTAVO PETRO: Obviously. But the situation is concerning. In what life does one not have concerns?

CORONELL: I hope you find wisdom and pragmatism to get out of this.

PETRO: We’ll see. I’ve got it. The problem is that I doubt that this is on Trump’s mind. But I trust that the democratic reserve of America’s institutions, which do not yet exist in Colombia, are able to put truth and science above slander and arrogance and greed.

CORONELL: Your mission is not to change Trump.

PETRO: No.

CORONELL: Your mission is to seek the best possible negotiation for the millions of Colombians who depend on those jobs and that economy.

PETRO: Humanity has a first offramp, and it is to change Trump. In various ways. Perhaps the easiest way may be through Trump himself. If not…(SNAP) get rid of Trump.

The interview ended with an evidently freaked-out Daniel Coronell, President of Univision News, not making the obvious followup question: what do you mean by that?! Coronell admits that he came out of that interview more worried than when he came in:

The language is nothing short of deranged, especially when considering the recent political violence. What possesses a man to suggest “getting rid” of someone who has survived multiple assassination attempts and a bunch of kinetic military assets not very far away? Whether it's cocaine or alcohol (allegedly) talking, we’re not sure and it really doesn’t matter.

This is a developing story, we will report additional information as it becomes available.
