Even though she wasn’t at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress and, instead, spent her time talking with other people, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) declared Netanyahu’s speech “by far the worst.”
“Benjamin Netanyahu’s presentation in the House Chamber today was by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi wrote in a social media post following the prime minister’s speech.
Pelosi went on to explain what she was doing during Netanyahu’s address:
“Many of us who love Israel spent time today listening to Israeli citizens whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings. These families are asking for a ceasefire deal that will bring the hostages home – and we hope the Prime Minister would spend his time achieving that goal.”
While Pelosi panned the speech she wasn't at, those who were in attendance repeatedly cheered and applauded Netanyahu's comments.
Pelosi, who has publicly voiced her disdain for Netanyahu, had previously announced that she would be boycotting the address by Israel’s prime minister, The Washington Examiner reports:
“‘Speaker Pelosi will not be attending today’s Joint Meeting of Congress,’ Pelosi spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement. ‘This morning, she will join a Members meeting with Israeli citizens whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings.’
“The former House speaker has made her dislike for Netanyahu known but said she supports Israel. In April, Pelosi said Netanyahu should resign over the way he has handled the war.”
