NewsBusters Executive Editor Tim Graham appeared Friday night on The Steve Malzberg Show on Newsmax TV to discuss the Pope and President Obama. First they discussed the U.S. News website trying to argue the pope “echoed” Obama in attacking Christianity in his speech to Congress. That wasn’t true, Graham said.

Carl Bernstein: 'Zealots Are Winning the Soul of the Republican Party'

Appearing as a guest on Friday's CNN Newsroom, CNN political analyst Carl Bernstein asserted that "zealots are winning the soul of the Republican Party" as he blamed the "zealots of his party" for Republican House Speaker John Boehner's announced resignation from the House of Representatives. Moments later, as he praised the Pope's speech to Congress, Bernstein took a shot at Texas Senator Ted…

Law Prof: Christian Right Throwing ‘Tantrum’ Over Gay Marriage

Variations on the term “Bush Derangement Syndrome” are common on both the right and the left (a Google search for “Clinton Derangement Syndrome” yielded roughly 180,000 results). Therefore, it wasn’t surprising to see Indiana University law prof Steve Sanders modify Charles Krauthammer’s famous coinage in order to trash religious conservatives. “The Christian right is deep in the grip of gay…

NBC Omits Defense Dept. Finding Hillary E-Mails; ABC and CBS Minimize

Friday's NBC Nightly News failed to cover how the Defense Department revealed earlier in the day that they found an "email chain that Hillary Clinton did not give to the State Department, as a Reuters report put it. Mrs. Clinton exchanged the e-mails with then-General David Petraeus between January and February of 2009.  Anchor Lester Holt did air a 16-second news brief on the other "big news…

The Media Always Liked John Boehner? Not So Much

After House Speaker John Boehner announced his intention to resign at the end of October, suddenly liberal journalists grew nostalgic. Rachel Maddow found him “refreshing and lovable.”  Chris Matthews insisted “verybody likes John Boehner. I can tell you the media like him.” That’s not exactly what Matthews and his liberal-media colleagues have been saying over the last five years.

Is Liberal Reasoning Idiotic or Just Straight-Up Dishonest?

Many people argue that liberals, socialists and progressives do not understand basic economics. I am not totally convinced about that.

Poll of GOP Voter Preferences Shows Trump Backers Not Racist

Supporters of Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump are used to being criticized whether it be their own party or Democrats. One charge often hurled at them is that Trump supporters are racist.  But a new Fox news poll on the 2016 presidential election should put that claim to rest. Currently the poll finds the New York real-estate developer is still on top with 26 percent of voters,…

ABC Notes ‘Stunning’ Fall for Clinton, But Allows Only Seconds on It

Despite teasing a new poll showing a “stunning” fall for Hillary Clinton, ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday only allowed seconds to the subject. Tale of Two Popes: Benedict an ‘Enforcer,’ Francis ‘Positive'

For journalists, it was the best of popes and it was the worst of popes. News outlets were often negative when Pope Benedict visited the United States in 2008, calling him an “enforcer,” “God’s Rottweiler,” and “very conservative.” Not so this time around for Pope Francis. The current pontiff shares the media’s views on climate change, immigration and inequality, and seems ambivalent at best…
