MSNBC journalists don’t often restrain their liberal leanings. But correspondent Jacob Soboroff was even less controlled on Monday night as he accused the Trump administration of “ripping apart the fabric of society.” Talking to Late Night host Seth Meyers, he attacked the forced separation of some illegal immigrants from their parents: “They make policies that rip children away from their families and are truly ripping apart the fabric of society based on nonsense.”

During a Tuesday panel discussion on NBC’s Megyn Kelly Today about left-wing comedian Sacha Baron Cohen tricking and humiliating Republicans for his new Showtime series, NBC reporter Jacob Soboroff praised the deceptive entertainer as a “genius” who was “exposing the fault lines of our society” and “providing a service.”

During the 18 months of the Trump presidency, immigration has received more airtime on the three broadcast evening news shows than any other policy topic. The networks’ coverage has been relentlessly hostile to the administration (92% negative, just 8% positive), largely because these newscasts have framed nearly all of their coverage around the plight of those adversely affected by the administration’s enforcement agenda, and have virtually ignored law enforcement or anyone harmed by illegal immigration.

Over the past week, as the dominant media have been fixated on President Donald Trump's push to more aggressively prosecute those who cross the border illegally, there have again been questionable claims that illegal immigrants commit crimes at a lower rate than the native-born population. But the studies cited either do not make a distinction between legal and illegal immigrants, or do not look at whether those who sneak across the border illegally have a higher crime rate than those who simply overstay visas. The media also continued to ignore other studies which suggest illegal immigrants do, in fact, exhibit a higher crime rate.

As the dominant media have been fixated for the past week on the Trump administration stepping up prosecutions against non-citizens who cross illegally into the U.S., resulting in parents being separated from children during detention as required by law, CNN and MSNBC both repeatedly conflated asylum seekers who legally got through the proper procedure with those who cross the border illegally first before pursuing asylum after being apprehended. When DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen earlier this week called out the misreporting and insisted that legal asylum seekers are normally not detained or separated from their children, except in unusual circumstances, the liberal networks scoffed at her admonishment and then pivoted to complaining that the legal process of applying for asylum at ports of entry takes too long.

Democrats in Congress are intent on using outrage against the Trump administration's immigration policies, rather than substantive action, to rally their electorate. On Tuesday, during a three-hour block of immigration coverage on MSNBC, it was clear the media was set on helping them do so.

As the media have been fixated all week on the Trump administration strictly enforcing immigration laws and, as required by law, separating illegal immigrant parents from children during prosecutions, MSNBC's Jacob Soboroff delivered a gem that deserves a place in the annals of "Blame America First" as he actually blamed the U.S. for Central America's crime problems with MS-13 and other gangs.

With the stroke of a pen, President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that would officially end the policy of separating parents and children who come across the southern border illegally. It’s what many on the right and left wanted to see happen, but for the liberal media it wasn’t enough, as CBS anchor Jeff Glor demonstrated by opining about how Trump was trying to “put out a big political fire with a few drops of ink.”

On the Thursday morning broadcasts, both ABC and NBC gave full reports on illegal immigrant children being separated from their families and detained at a holding center in Texas. Both networks gave sympathetic spin blaming the Trump administration's immigration policy for separating families, but NBC's take was so over-the-top that it compared the kids to animals locked up in cages and the detention center as worse than a prison.

Appearing on Thursday’s Megyn Kelly Today, NBC reporter Jacob Soboroff couldn’t bring himself to condemn left-wing Full Frontal host Samantha Bee for calling First Daughter Ivanka Trump a “feckless c**t” on the TBS show Wednesday night. Instead, he seemed to excuse the nasty attack, claiming: “Look, she’s a comedian and she said it on her show.”

During MSNBC’s 1:00 p.m. ET hour on Tuesday, correspondent Jacob Soboroff actually grilled Democratic Pennsylvania congressional candidate John Morganelli on his policy positions, but did so from the left, accusing the pro-life politician of being “too conservative.” The interview came just moments after a fawning report in which the reporter went campaigning door to door with Morganelli’s more liberal primary opponent.

Starting off a new series on Monday called Top of the World, ahead of Earth Day, NBC’s Today show sent correspondent Jacob Soboroff to the North Pole “to understand why we have all been experiencing such extreme weather, from droughts to fires, floods and hurricanes, even more.” The reporter hyped how he joined a team of NASA scientists “working around the clock to compile data that could be critical to our future on Earth.”
