This week’s Philadelphia convention is playing host to a string of Democratic speakers promising to alter the First Amendment, to give government more control over who can engage in politics. “The Intimidation Game,” tells the story behind those calls.  

After having had a great time piecing together a list for readers of some crazy, surprising, and downright weird moments/statements from MSNBC’s late Monday night/early Tuesday morning coverage of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), I thought it would be an appropriate time to do another one for the DNC’s closing night. 

Striking a different tone than the lukewarm reactions by ABC and NBC to Hillary Clinton’s DNC speech late Thursday night, CBS enthusiastically praised her “steadiness,” intro music choice of This Is My Fight Song and admitted they were “moved by how many times she said ‘strength’ and ‘together.’”

Opening their Thursday night coverage of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), ABC’s voice-over announcer couldn’t help but produce one last gushing pump-up video as he proclaimed “here we are” for “[t]his one historic moment in front of America” and the on-air personalities applauded Chelsea Clinton emphasizing Hillary as a grandmother.

In an embarrassing display of flip-flopping, ABC’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir seemingly backtracked Thursday night on a claim from two days earlier that Hillary Clinton was “still so unknown to many in this country” to more appropriately ruling that “but she knows, this is a country divided” that has “very strong opinion[s] about her already.”

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell made his latest Fox Business Network (FBN) appearance on Thursday afternoon’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast and held little back as he called out liberal panelist Richard Fowler for his “preposterous” argument that the need to hype vocal protesters inside the Democratic National Convention (DNC) was much ado about nothing. 

On Tuesday, Harris County's prosecutor in Texas dropped the remaining criminal charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress. This ended a clearly politically motivated attempt to turn the tables on the pro-life heroes who showed that Planned Parenthood was trafficking in fetal body parts for compensation. Despite it drawing nowhere near the same levels of enthusiasm that other speeches drew in the 2016 Democratic National Convention (DNC) thus far, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC went into full spin mode late Wednesday hailing vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine’s personality as a “suburban dad” whose “extraordinary” Spanish-speaking skills made for “a Spanish lesson down here.”

Full Frontal host Samantha Bee joined the set of Wednesday’s PBS NewsHour to promote her TBS show and in the process, she claimed to be an “independent” despite being “excited for Hillary” and defended her show’s near constant use of “salty language” despite a drove of critics (which she argued she ignores).
