The opposition to the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice has evolved from the merely desperate to the hilariously desperate. A good example of the latter can be seen in the July 10 New York magazine in which writer Ed Kilgore suggests that the Maine Democrats politically bribe Republican Senator Susan Collins with a promise by their state chairman to endorse her when she is up for re-election in 2020.
The left has been in a frenzy since Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court on Monday. They’ve found their ammunition against the nominee in a in a 2009 article for the Minnesota Law Review written by Kavanaugh, in which he argued that a president should be exempt from investigation and civil suits until they are out of office or impeached and removed from office. The D.C. Circuit Court judge noted in the article that it would take an act of Congress to change the law, which would take pressure off the shoulders of those who have the world’s most stressful job.
During a panel discussion on her 9:00 a.m. ET hour show on Wednesday, MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle agreed with left-wing SiriusXM Progress radio host Mark Thompson that it was “evil” for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to block Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court in 2016. Thompson further warned that “women’s lives are on the line” with President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the high court.
When the left truly has nothing bad they can say about the latest action from the President, they resort to childish insults and cheap shots. It seems like the writers of CBS’s The Late Show had that problem Tuesday night when they wrote host Stephen Colbert’s monologue about Trump’s Supreme Court pick, Brett Kavanaugh, lamely bashing him for picking from a pool of “white guys” that want to take away people’s “rights.”
On Wednesday, network morning show coverage of President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh dropped off significantly, with combined air time of less than two minutes. However, the ABC, NBC, and CBS broadcasts still managed to use that brief amount of reporting to tout Democrats “launching all-out war” against the federal judge.
In a mid-Tuesday morning tweet, ABC News chief foreign correspondent and longtime Supreme Court correspondent Terry Moran engaged in some mansplaining and anti-Fox News chicanery by voicing displeasure with Fox News @ Night host Shannon Bream for claiming that she left her spot Monday night outside the Supreme Court because she “felt threatened” by the “very volatile” “mood” by the far-left protesters.
Since the 1980s, the well-worn liberal playbook is to claim that Republican appointees to the Supreme Court should be voted down as ideologues who are outside the judicial mainstream. The establishment media aids this tactic by often tagging GOP nominees as “conservative,” while ignoring — or even disputing — the liberal bent of Democratic nominees to the Court. True to form, ABC, CBS and NBC’s morning and evening broadcasts branded Judge Brett Kavanaugh a “conservative” a total of eleven times in the first 24 hours since his nomination by President Trump.
The one guarantee about Trump appointing Judge Brett Kavanaugh is that the Democrats, fueled by their mindless street mobs, will try to destroy him. It’s how Democrats behave. It is not how the “news” media should behave. Is there anyone who disputes that? But it is how they will comport themselves, because they are one with their Democrat brothers and sisters.
During Tuesday’s World News Tonight, ABC revealed their key concerns with Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court. Along with speculation of him helping to overturn Roe v. Wade, the network boosted Democratic worries that efforts to prosecute the President via the special counsel would end.
Vice President Mike Pence went on a media tour Tuesday to promote Judge Brett Kavanaugh as President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. Needless to say, his CNN stop went as well as you’d expect. On The Situation Room, chief political correspondent Dana Bash grilled Pence about whether he and the President would be upset if Kavanaugh didn’t overturn Roe v. Wade (thus making abortion illegal in one way or another).
On Monday night, MSNBC prime-time shows spent the vast majority of their time discussing President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court. Of the 27 guests which appeared over the four-hour block from 8:00 p.m. to midnight ET, not a single conservative was given time to speak about the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.
Women’s magazines aren’t just for fashion and makeup anymore. No. They’re also for abortion. On Monday, President Trump announced his pick for new Supreme Court justice: federal judge Brett Kavanaugh. Writers for women’s magazines from Glamour to Teen Vogue immediately produced stories warning about what the nominee could to do to “your abortion rights.”
