An inflation report coming in lower than expected with a core inflation number under 3 for the first time since the pandemic would have drawn elated A-block coverage across the “legacy” evening news. But a similar report at the outset of Trump II? Not so much.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is on an epic run: making people soil themselves at national parks, getting people eaten by bears, and even ruining spring itself. Now, according to CBS News, DOGE will also make you catch Ebola.

With some of the roadblocks to the prosecution of the second failed would-be assassin of President Donald Trump removed, the shocking details of his plot are revealed. And for some strange reason, NBC News has still not aired any of the shocking details on their television offerings.

CNN’s Thunderdome, more commonly referred to as NewsNight with Abby Phillip, was particularly lively tonight. Given the issue array, there was bound to be fireworks. And sure enough, there were.

Another heinous crime perpetrated by an illegal alien has entered the public discourse: a soccer coach is alleged to have sexually assaulted and murdered a California teenaged boy. And the media are once again having a hard time reporting on the immigration status of the accused murderer.

Tonight, the Supreme Court of the United States granted the Trump administration’s venue-based challenge of a U.S. District Court ruling barring deportations of illegal aliens suspected to be Tren de Aragua, pursuant to the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. Except for Univision, the story received a total blackout among “legacy media” evening newscasts.

As predictable as the sun rising in the East: the media’s silence in the face of President Joe Biden’s evident cognitive decline is met with a deluge of books, by some of those same media types, chronicling that decline in detail. 

As media-consuming stories go, Signalgate went out with nary a whimper- barely lasting a week. In its place, the media now caterwaul over the reciprocal tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discovered during his sit-down with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Meet the Depressed.

As the media continue to convulse over the fallout of President Donald Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs, there have emerged several goofy narratives. A very interesting exchange on last night’s CNN NewsNight With Abby Phillip (AKA The Thunderdome) proved that a worthy argument can be undermined by an ineffective spokesperson. In this case, a point on the everyday effects of tariffs on imported goods that ended with Scott Jennings standing tall in defense of American snack foods.

The story of the “Maryland father” deported to El Salvador’s infamous CECOT supermax prison continues to garner “victim porn” coverage on Spanish-language media. But in order for the story to stick, there need to be significant omissions and distortions when discussing the “victim” in this case. 

In a report devoted to complaining about President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting the imposition of woke ideology at the Smithsonian, Univision made a huge and puzzling omission: the fledgling National Museum of the American Latino.

The late, great Andrew Breitbart forcefully and repeatedly made the case that “politics is downstream from culture.” CBS’s extended whine session over the Trump takeover of the Kennedy Center proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Breitbart was ultimately right.

After a brief investigation, there was an arrest made in the firebombing of a Las Vegas Tesla service center. The evening network newscasts provided this arrest with coverage that could most charitably be described as “mixed”.
