The onslaught of media stories about the Trump family’s stake in cryptocurrency betrays a strange new interest in coverage of the perception of corruption. As Speaker Mike Johnson reminded CNN’s Jake Tapper, things were (D)ifferent back then.

The United States House of Representatives passed its “One Big, Beautiful Bill”, which seeks to renew the tax cuts first enacted in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, a significant plank of President Donald Trump’s economic agenda. But coverage on the legacy media newscasts was mixed, at best.

It appears that the legacy media have learned nothing from the release of the Hur tapes, and the release of Tapper/Thompson’s “Original Sin”. Faced with former President Biden’s devastating cancer diagnosis, and with the choice between investigative journalism or stenography, the media continue to choose the latter.

It’s Publication Day for the much-ballyhooed Original Sin, authored by Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson of Axios, and with it, the requisite media tour. And what sounded like an honest admission by Tapper on CBS Evening News Plus is really a searing indictment of the media’s conduct throughout the Biden years.

On the Monday Evening News, only one legacy media newscast mentioned the serious questions around the Biden White House while covering the former president’s cancer diagnosis. The others continued to pretend it didn’t exist. 

As news was breaking of former President Joe Biden’s advanced cancer diagnosis, there immediately emerged efforts to turn the diagnosis into a vehicle with which to suppress scrutiny of the former president based on the respective releases of the Hur tapes and the Tapper/Thompson book Original Sin. Chief among those doing so on CNN, Brian Stelter and former Obama guru David Axelrod.…

Many elected Democrats and media are beginning to wilt under scrutiny over the damning revelations published in Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s “Original Sin”. Many, as we heard from CBS’s Margaret Brennan, are just wanting to move on, or “look forward.”

On the latest installment of CNN State of the Union, an unrepentant Jake Tapper devoted a segment to promoting his upcoming Original Sin, co-written with Alex Thompson of Axios. A favorite game the media continue to play is “Guess the Party”, wherein a lack of a mention of partisan affiliation is regarded as proof evident that the persona is a Democrat. The latest instance of such reporting comes via Univision, on their midday newscast.

The arrest of Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan under charges of helping an illegal alien evade ICE arrest drew national attention, particularly on legacy media where the matter was presented as proof evident of an escalation by President Trump. But it appears that there is far less interest in covering the indictment of Judge Dugan in federal court.

The war in Gaza is almost 2 years old and yet there are pockets of American media that insist on reporting as if they are still in the throes of the early Israeli response. Namely, CBS News which has been the most consistently pro-Hamas of the legacy nightly newscasts.

With the imminent release of the first of what will surely be a legion of books authored by Legacy Media types on the obvious cognitive decline of President Joe Biden, there is a modicum of media self-interest in reporting on the book’s disclosures. But there remains a hesitancy to cover this issue at the Legacy newscasts.
