MRC Original: The editors at Apple News and the algorithm behind Google News appeared to receive the same marching orders ahead of the 2026 midterm elections: Don't promote negative stories about scandal-plagued Democrats, but don't extend the same treatment to Republicans.

Apple News and Google News promoted mostly left-leaning outlets that used strong language like "crisis" for Spain’s border surge, but downplayed similar issues under Biden in the US, calling it a “challenge” or “surge.” This reveals partisan bias and calls out inconsistent media coverage of illegal immigration.

In an exclusive interview on Sinclair Broadcasting’s The National News Desk, Media Research Center (MRC) President David Bozell revealed a new study alleging that Apple News and Google News actively shielded progressive Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from critical press coverage.

MRC Original: If there’s one thing that stands out whenever Abdul El-Sayed is pressed about his radical positions, it’s his smile. His nearly perfect teeth, neatly trimmed beard and laid-back black hair rarely seem out of place, no matter how hard-hitting the question.

From May to June, Google News increased promotion of Al Jazeera stories by 125%, mainly on U.S. topics, boosting Al Jazeera’s U.S. website traffic by 6%. Critics say Google News favors the Qatar-linked, left-leaning outlet while overlooking major right-leaning U.S. news sources for coverage on key issues.

On Nov. 9, 2020, the Media Research Center blasted Big Tech and Big Media for stealing the 2020 election by censoring news and information after they hid the Biden family scandals from the American people. And now Big Media and Big Tech are threatening democracy again.

Media Research Center caught Apple and Google red-handed, and now it seems Google is hoping a few quick dismissals and an ad hominem attack will erase its attempt to shield scandal-plagued Graham Platner from criticism.
