Ocasio-Cortez Urges Censorship of Critics Calling Out Her Lies on Social Media

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) apparently expects her supporters to cover for her lying.

Ocasio-Cortez has now reportedly encouraged her supporters to report social media users who call her out for the fact that she was not actually in the U.S. Capitol Building during the Jan. 6 riot. She asked them to target embarrassing hashtags.

"Scan your social media to find posts with this misleading information, especially those using the trending hashtag. Don’t tweet any hashtags yourself, because we don’t want to spread them further!" she exclaimed in a campaign email obtained by Fox News.

"Identify any posts that are threatening or harassing and use the built-in report features to flag them for moderators. Facebook and Twitter both have built in tools for reporting posts and tweets that break the rules," the email continued.

A campaign spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez confirmed to Fox “that screenshots of the email were authentic.”

Her latest controversy erupted after Ocasio-Cortez accused Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) of “trying to get [her] killed” during the Jan. 6 riot. As it turns out, Ocasio-Cortez was not even inside the Capitol at the time. She was in her office, which is located in a separate building near the Capitol.

Ocasio-Cortez dramatically retold the Jan. 6 events in an Instagram Live video. She claimed that she “jump[ed] into [her] bathroom” to hide. The leftist media went even further in describing her experience. The New York Times claimed, “she had been forced to hide from the violent mob and to navigate a Capitol under siege, and how she feared for her life.” Newsweek described how “members of the mob banged against the door.”

The media, including CNN and MSNBC, also touted Ocasio-Cortez’s “survivor” narrative all week. She even pushed the narrative on the house floor in a Feb. 4 speech
