Daily Kos Week in Review: Slanted and Disenchanted

March 8th, 2013 11:13 PM

Regular readers of NewsBusters are by definition familiar with liberal media bias. For Kossacks, however, the concept is a non sequitur, since they consider the mainstream media to be water-carriers for corporatist, right-wing Republicans. Go figure.

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

ProgressiveLiberal: Obama has good reason to dodge the press

For too long many have allowed the Right Wing Echo Chamber that includes Rush Limbaugh, the talking heads at Fox News, and others to lay the false foundation that the media was somehow a shill for President Obama and his administration...

After all, this supposedly Liberal media was the media that allowed Republicans to almost sink the Affordable Care Act...This supposedly Liberal media allowed birthers to have the semblance of plausibility. This supposedly Liberal media provided a false equivalence to Republicans holding the entire country hostage to get their will because of the President’s refusal of draconian cuts to the social safety net...

...No wonder the president continues to go around these journalists that believe they are entitled to first dibs on the administration’s message.

Ray Pensador: Sigmund Freud, Republican tool

...[Conservative] activism helped bring about the conditions necessary for the ascendancy of the current increasingly fascistic corporate state. And thus, they took over the entire mainstream media turning it into the most powerful and sophisticated mind-numbing propaganda machine the world has ever seen...

Once they've taken over the political system, and the mainstream media, they then proceeded to perfect their abilities to manipulate the population into acting against their own interests, i.e., irrationally. A lot of this was the result of applying Freudian psychoanalysis techniques at a mass scale...

Madrigal Maniac: Crazy conservatives, unified by fear

...[There is a] rising number of groups who are quite frankly, bat shit crazy. I would include in this cabal the Tea Party, Survivalists (Gun Nuts and infowars.com), the New Republican Party, and the right wing media. In searching for common denominators between all of these groups I can only find one, an irrational fear...

...[A]ll these groups operate under fear of losing a precious commodity. The Tea Party group is afraid of losing Mayberry, which never was and will never be...

Hunter: Two sweeping generalizations about the right

The entire conservative movement is nuts. Every damn one of them...Conservatism is just another name for batshit crazy...

...There is absolutely nothing you can say or do that will discredit you in the eyes of the conservative movement. Absolutely nothing.

Joan McCarter: For most GOPers, sadism is secondary

...It's hard to say whether the Republicans really want to cause pain to old people [by cutting Medicare]. That's probably just a side benefit for the majority of them, though the true Randian teabaggers, and Alan Simpson, would dearly love to punish some moochers...
