Daily Kos Week in Review: Must Be The Money

April 21st, 2012 7:22 AM

To the left-wing mind, conservatives' hatred of sex and minority groups is matched only by their love of war and, of course, the almighty dollar. This week, one Kossack opined that the GOP wins solely by offering "bribes" (i.e., tax cuts) to "degenerate" voters. Another argued that Republicans' advantage over Democrats is their "appeal to the basest of human instincts; greed."

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

Troubadour: Republicans are on the take

...[T]he Republican Party is more of a criminal syndicate than a political organization...

...Republican voters are not misguided; they are not honest, hardworking people who've misjudged the situation; they are not patriotic Americans led astray by charismatic (ha!) leaders. They are just degenerate people whose corruption is commensurate to their means.

They vote Republican for one reason, and one reason only: Because Republicans bribe them in every single election...

protoscholar: GOP = Greedy Old Party

...[R]epublicans are better at soundbites because they appeal to the basest of human instincts; greed. "Make things better for me right now, regardless of the future or the impact on anyone else." Democrats look to the future and the effect of a policy on everyone, and that makes things complicated.  Complicated takes time to explain, and takes thought to understand. That's a hard task in a world of soundbites and apathy...

AlecMN: Scott Walker beats Dustin Hoffman

...It is almost as if Republicans politicians are idiot savants. Totally dysfunctional in all aspects of life, except for a very specific realm in which they show genius. They cannot run a country or a state, but when it comes to destroying opponents they are brilliant. Heck, Governor Walker is the ultimate "Rain Man"...

hannah: Conservatism is a big scam

...Calling conservatives cons is appropriate because their stock in trade is basically deception...

That liars tell stories that put themselves into an unfavorable light is probably one of the hardest things to comprehend. [Romney's] Seamus story is probably a good example.  Why does he tell it over and over again? Because it gets him credibility for his other lies...

sasharusa: Pregnancy is an alien invasion

...[B]ack to the whole fetus = parasite thing. That is how I see them. I don't see them as cute and cuddly. I see them as terrifying and scary. I see pregnancy the same way.

Here are some examples on how pregnancy is a parasitic relationship...

The "relationship" only benefits the fetus.
The mother's organs and body parts become damaged.
The fetus controls the mother.
The fetus doesn't give anything "back".

Some people would argue that this is a form of Mutualism, which is a relationship where both the host and the parasite benefit, but how does this benefit the mother? Where is that "benefit"?...
