NewsBusters Podcast: Peter Schweizer on Media & Weaponized Migration

January 23rd, 2026 8:15 AM

At a time when deportation is a dirty word and ICE is smeared as the Gestapo, perennially best-selling author Peter Schweizer offers a vivid counterpoint about defending American civilization in his new book The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon.

The book is presently #1 on Amazon, and he joined NewsBusters to discuss it. The book's provocative thesis, as it discloses on Amazon: “Every day, ICE is arresting hundreds of illegal immigrants with a criminal record. They didn’t just come here. They were sent here.”

MRC Free Speech America VP Dan Schneider and I began with the horrible coverage ICE is getting -- 93 percent negative overall on the evening newscasts of ABC, CBS, and NBC. Mass deportation is described as a very negative thing, but Biden's mass importation was barely acknowledged as a strategy. Journalists would ask Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas if there was a "border crisis," and he denied it. It was a strategy.

The idea that other nations "sent" immigrants to America is greeted as a conspiracy theory. t’s plausible for them to claim that ICE is Trump’s personal Gestapo. It’s plausible to say ICE might meddle in the midterm elections, but if you claim the Democrats are importing voters, you're putting on a tinfoil hat.

Schweizer explained that governments like communist China and Mexico have been using our immigration standards against America. The Chinese are using birthright citizenship to have Chinese babies born in America, and then brought up in China, but they'll be able to vote and donate in U.S. elections. The Mexicans have talked of reconquering their old territory.

Then there's Islam, and the weird alliance between Muslims and woke LGBTQ types, who should be dramatically at odds. Schweizer quotes Professor Judith Butler of the University of California at Berkeley, an icon of the progressive left, who argues for the need for “understanding Hamas, Hezbollah as social movements that are progressive, that are on the Left, that are part of a global Left, is extremely important.”
