CBS Allows Mere Seconds on Biden Yelling at Reporter for Daring to Ask About Hunter

October 19th, 2020 12:19 PM

A CBS reporter on Friday night dared to ask Joe Biden about the bombshell New York Post story on Hunter Biden, his connections to an Ukrainian gas company and his then-Vice President dad.

The 2020 candidate responded by yelling at reporter Bo Erickson, complaining that “smears are “right up your alley.” CBS on Saturday allowed a scant 48 seconds on its own reporter being attacked. The network has, so far, offered no follow-up on Sunday or Monday.

On Friday night, CBS 2020 political reporter Bo Erickson asked this relatively mild question: “Mr. Biden, what is your response to the New York Post story about your son, sir?” Biden lashed out, questioning Erickson’s integrity: “I know you'd ask it. I have no response. It's another smear campaign. It's right up your alley.  They’re the questions you always ask.”

This was too much for even White House correspondent Paula Reid. She tweeted late on Friday night:

But the outrage from CBS seemed confined to Twitter. Did CBS journalists aggressively come to the defense of their colleague?  No. On CBS This Morning: Saturday Nikole Killion mildly presented the exchange:

NIKOLE KILLION: The former Vice President dismissed the report when pressed by CBS News.

BO ERICKSON: Mr. Biden, what is your response to the New York Post story about your son, sir?

JOE BIDEN: I know you'd ask it. I have no response. It's another smear campaign. It's right up your alley.  They’re the questions you always ask.

Later that day on CBS Weekend News, Weijia Jiang brought up the possibility of the whole thing being Russian disinformation, saying that’s “something Biden brought up when CBS News asked him to weigh in.” She then played the contentious exchange of Biden attacking the journalist.

The combined total of the two CBS shows on Saturday was 48 seconds. ABC and NBC from Saturday through Monday morning have been silent on Biden attacking a fellow reporter.  This isn’t surprising as NBC in August ignored its own reporter and crew being assaulted by Antifa.

The minimization of an attack on a CBS reporter was sponsored by Nature’s Bounty and United Healthcare. Click on the links to let them know what you think.
