CRICKETS: Media Yawn at Kamala Gaffe Hyping ‘Harris Administration'

September 15th, 2020 5:10 PM

Journalists jump on every Trump misstep, highlighting gaffes and cringe-inducing comments from the President. Yet, awkward moments from the two Democratic candidates are conveniently ignored. As if it wasn’t enough that Joe Biden took Friday, Saturday and Sunday off with no campaign events, the networks skipped Kamala Harris championing the “Harris administration” before quickly backtracking.

This event happened on Saturday, yet it took Fox News to cover it. Reporter Jacqui Heinrich on Tuesday observed, “Meantime, Senator Kamala Harris is under fire for her comments on Monday where she briefly refers to herself as the top of the ticket.”

Here’s the full quote: “A Harris administration together with Joe Biden as the President of the United States, the Biden-Harris administration, will have access —  provide access to $100 billion in low interest loans and investments for minority business owners.”

If that wasn’t enough, Joe Biden basically did the same thing on Tuesday. Talking at an event on Tuesday, he blurted

It makes it so much harder for military spouses to find good jobs and build their careers. That has to change. A Harris-Biden administration is going to relaunch that effort and keep pushing further to make it easier for military spouses and veterans to find meaningful careers to ensure teachers know how to support military children in their classrooms and to improve support for caregivers and survivors so much more than we do now.

Will journalists notice this gaffe?

A transcript of the Fox segment is below.

Bill Hemmer Reports

JACQUI HEINRICH: Meantime, Senator kamala Harris is under fire for her comments on Monday where she briefly refers to herself as the top of the ticket. Listen.

KAMALA HARRIS: A Harris administration together with Joe Biden as the President of the United States, the Biden-Harris administration, will have access —  provide access to $100 billion in low interest loans and investments for minority business owners.

HEINRICH: She did correct herself. As you might imagine, the Trump campaign is having a feel day with that one.

HEMMER: Don't want to screw that one up, do you?
