Olbermann Apologizes to Stewart: 'I Have Been a Little Over the Top Lately'

I guess it takes a liberal comedian to bring a liberal buffoon to his senses, for a day after Comedy Central's Jon Stewart scolded Keith Olbermann for his disgraceful rants against Senator-elect Scott Brown, the "Countdown" host apologized.

After showing the full clip of Stewart's fabulous smackdown on the previous night's "Daily Show," the MSNBCer said Friday:

"You're right. I have been a little over the top lately. Point taken. Sorry."

Unfortunately, the apology was to Stewart, not to the object of Olbermann's repeated attacks (video below the fold with partial transcript):

KEITH OLBERMANN, HOST: Into each life some rain must fall. You will often hear Rachel Maddow and I lumped in together with Jon Stewart of the "Daily Show" as the only truth-tellers in mainstream television. Well, this week Mr. Stewart was critical first of Rachel, and last night of me. So, the old truth-telling list has gotten shorter by one name, or maybe two, or I guess, maybe all three. Seriously, my response to Mr. Stewart's critique will not mean much unless you see it. So, I'll show it to you in a moment with two prefaces only. One, Jon, you invited me on the show in 2003, and I said I couldn't make it because of the taping time. I didn't mean I couldn't make it forever. What, you can't pick up a phone, give a jingle? Two, I think it should be noted when Affleck did this, he didn't have a teleprompter. That guy is a technician like Rembrandt was a technician.

Olbermann then played the full clip. When it was done, he responded:

OLBERMANN: Fetid swamp you say sir? This from a guy who reached his professional apex when he was the host of "Short Attention Span Theater" in 1991? Well, you want some baseless name-calling? You are - nah, you know what? You're right. I have been a little over the top lately. Point taken. Sorry.

Nice apology, Keith. Now how about apologizing to Brown?

Furthermore, wasn't it fascinating to watch this pompous so and so pump himself up before saying he was sorry?

I have to admit to often hearing Olbermann and his sycophant devotees at Daily Kos and Democratic make such a claim, but other than that, not so much.

But what would you expect?
