The View Cast Confronts Sunny Hostin for Pushing Hamas Terrorist Propaganda

October 11th, 2023 1:22 PM

Possibly tired of her incessant, simmering support for Hamas all week long, the vast majority of the cast of ABC’s The View confronted racist co-host Sunny Hostin on Wednesday, when she started openly pushing Hamas terrorist propaganda about Israel carrying out collective punishment against Palestinians and how they should “look at some restraint here” after 1,200 Israeli civilians were slaughtered.

After catching flack on social media on Tuesday for saying she found Israeli “anger” at Hamas “terrifying,” Hostin suggested she did “understand the anger that there is there.” But she immediately followed it up by falsely claiming that the people of Gaza never voted to have Hamas be their leaders:

And I understand the anger that there is there, but we need to also recognize that the Palestinians that are there now that are descendants of refugees have not had a democratic election since 2007 … They did not vote in these people currently vote in Hamas.

So, Sunny, answer this: If Palestinians didn’t support the actions of Hamas, then why were they out celebrating in the streets and parading around the bodies of their victims? Why were they so emboldened as to have pro-terrorist rallies across the globe, even here in America?

Hostin followed that up by pushing Hamas propaganda about how Israel was supposedly violating international law and dishing out collective punishment against Palestinians. This caused the rest of the cast to revolt against her, calling out Hamas for using human shields and storing weapons in schools and noting the Israeli Defense Force warned civilians before striking targets (Click “expand”):

HOSTIN: And so when you look at international human rights law – I'm just putting my legal hat on, this is not the Sunny hat. I understand the anger, but when you decide to retaliate collectively against a people, that is also in violation of human rights law so we have to look --

FARAH GRIFFIN: But Hamas uses its people as human shields.

HOSTIN: So we have to look at some restraint here.

BEHAR: The Israelis have warned all of the civilians!

HOSTIN: We have to look at some restraint.

BEHAR: But the Israelis warn the civilians, “We're coming in. Get out of the area.” Hamas did nothing of the kind!

FARAH GRIFFIN: Hamas deliberately put their ammo in schools.

Earlier in the segment, right-leaning co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin called out pro-Hamas terrorist Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib for not condemning the beheading of babies. “Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib was asked to condemn the butchering of children, she refused to answer the question. She refused to condemn it,” she said. Fill-in moderator Joy Behar called Tlaib “obnoxious.”

Co-host Sara Haines said the events in Israel had opened her eyes. “[A]ll of a sudden the things I cared about the day before changed very quickly and it gave me a harsh perspective,” she said. She also declared: “There's no version of a two-state solution right now in this area due to the fact that Hamas, who rules and was elected in Palestine.”

The other right-leaning co-host, Ana Navarro went off on those (such as Hostin) who were telling Israel to exercise “restraint” when dealing with Hamas terrorists:

There's been many issues in that region before, and always the response from around the world has been to Israel, “have restraint.” Yesterday, nobody was telling Israel to have restraint because you cannot call on Israel to have restraint when 1,200, at least, of their citizens have been slaughtered in the savage inhumane cruel medieval way that they have been killed.

She went on to proclaim that the only group responsible for what was going to happen in Gaza was Hamas: “And so, look, we're about to see up more carnage. It's going to get incredibly painful. The only people that are to blame for this is Hamas. Hamas is going to be the ones culpable for what's going to happen in Gaza.”

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: I have to say no notes. Joe Biden, it was a very strong moment for the American president but I hope members of The Squad tuned in. Because yesterday, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib was asked to condemn the butchering of children, she refused to answer the question. She refused to condemn it.

JOY BEHAR: Obnoxious.

FARAH GRIFFIN: And also there were other members of The Squad who said we need to end all aid to Israel at this critical moment. Listen, nothing puts –

BEHAR: Tell them what you mean when you say The Squad, cause not everybody follows.

FARAH GRIFFIN: The Squad is the very progressive left flank within the House Democratic conference. But here's the thing, nothing underscores --

SUNNY HOSTIN: She said [inaudible] all children is --

FARAH GRIFFIN: She was asked by a reporter to condemn the butchering of children by Hamas terrorists and she refused to answer or a comment at all.

SARA HAINES: The perspective alone when you're watching the news and seeing this, all of a sudden the things I cared about the day before changed very quickly and it gave me a harsh perspective. Biden did, I saw what you saw, Sunny, unequivocally denounced the terrorist attack while also hopefully discouraging other terrorist organizations from jumping in, which is also an important note here, because there is a temptation.

The hard part here is, there's no version of a two-state solution right now in this area due to the fact that Hamas, who rules and was elected in Palestine.

ANA NAVARRO: Since 2007.

HAINES: Has said in their charter that they – “peace talking are an exercise in futility” and we will not stop until we destroy Israel. So, when one side is saying that, you must retaliate and sadly I have to say it is -- anyone with a heart will hurt seeing anyone killed, in Palestine, in Israel, these are innocent civilians, it is awful, but there is no answer that won't result in military attack and loss when you've pillaged communities. You have raped women and dragged them through the street naked.

BEHAR: Beheaded babies.

HAINES: They’ve killed grandmas on Facebook and broadcast it. They have butchered people. Sadly, that will -- life will be lost, but it has to be done to stop terrorists.

NAVARRO: But also on the Biden thing, you know, the speech, there was a lot of things he said which were very important, there was also something he didn't say which was very important. There's been many attacks on Israel before.

And so, look, we're about to see up more carnage. It's going to get incredibly painful. The only people that are to blame for this is Hamas. Hamas is going to be the ones culpable for what's going to happen in Gaza. They are holding Gaza hostage.

BEHAR: Somebody gave them money and weaponry.

NAVARRO: But it wasn't -- let me clarify that because some people are talking about 6 billion. I just heard Congressman Jackowitz [sic] [she possibly means Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL)], who just came out of a briefing, said not one cent of the 6 billion had moved. In other words, that's a right-wing talking point that we should not, you know, fall for.

FARAH GRIFFIN: But that doesn't change the fact that Iran very likely did back this. Hamas does not have the sophistication to carry out an attack like this without financing.

NAVARRO: We don’t know that. We will. Hopefully, we will know that.

HOSTIN: We don’t know that. But – And I just want to say I heard a lot of the things that you heard that everybody heard, but what we – And I understand the anger that there is there, but we need to also recognize that the Palestinians that are there now that are descendants of refugees have not had a democratic election since 2007. Okay?

[Crosstalk]

BEHAR: It’s because of Hamas.

HOSTIN: They did not --

BEHAR: That’s because of Hamas. Okay.

HOSTIN: They did not vote in these people currently vote in Hamas. And so when you look at international human rights law – I'm just putting my legal hat on, this is not the Sunny hat. I understand the anger, but when you decide to retaliate collectively against a people, that is also in violation of human rights law so we have to look --

FARAH GRIFFIN: But Hamas uses it’s people as human shields.

HOSTIN: So we have to look at some restraint here.

BEHAR: The Israelis are warned all of the civilians!

HOSTIN: We have to look at some restraint.

BEHAR: But the Israelis warn the civilians, “We're coming in. Get out of the area.” Hamas did nothing of the kind!

FARAH GRIFFIN: Hamas deliberately put their ammo in schools.

HOSTIN: They must continue to do that.

BEHAR: We have to go.

NAVARRO: Sunny, the problem is that Hamas runs Gaza. They are occupied by Hamas – [inaudible due to outro music]
