It’s always fun to watch the left rhetorically eat their own. And that’s exactly what happened during Thursday’s edition of ABC’s The View when co-host Joy Behar’s usual doting praise for President Biden slipped as she blamed his “white privilege” for making him think he could work with Republican (as if he was).
In addition, he proved she had the comedy taste of a middle schooler by mocking the name of Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy because of his question to Biden at Wednesday’s press conference.
Behar argued that Republicans have been scoundrels for decades dating back to the 90s with the Contract with America legislative agenda that helped the GOP to take control of Congress in 1994. Referring to it as “Contract on America” (like it was a hit job), she recalled: “And then you had Mitch McConnell say that his whole idea going forward with Obama was to make sure he was a one-term president.”
From there, Behar blamed Biden’s “white privilege” for him being drawn into a false sense of security that he would be able to work with Republicans and that he was too dumb to see it:
So I mean, how dense was Biden in this instance – in these instances? I don’t care that you're a white privileged senator. You’re a white privilege senator in the United States Congress and so you believe that other white privilege guys will work with you, but they won't. And they don't.
Behar’s comments sparked a heated back and forth pitting her and co-host Sunny Hostin against co-host Whoopi Goldberg over what Biden should have known and when he should have known it (Click “expand”):
GOLDBERG: Here's my idea with this, you can say he should have known, we all should have known what was coming,
BEHAR: We did.
GOLDBERG: No, we didn't. We had no idea that we suddenly were going to be in the midst of people who were going to say to us, a year in, “no, that’s not the real president.”
HOSTIN: After January 6, of course, we knew.
“But you're talking about him having greater knowledge before January 6 and I'm saying this was -- he never anticipated this,” Goldberg huffed as they went to a commercial.
Earlier in the show, Behar flaunted her mental immaturity as she targeted Doocy by referring to him as “Peter Douchey” and pretending she didn’t know how to pronounce his name:
BEHAR: On the other hand he missed an opportunity, in my opinion, when that kid, what’s his name Douchey. What’s his name?
ANA NAVARRO: Not Douchey.
HOSTIN: Peter Doocy.
Hostin was the only other co-host the camera panned to during the exchange and even she didn’t seem amused by it.
Behar’s attitude towards Biden did a 180-degree flip from where it was at the start of the show. As the cast was trying to downplay and spin Biden giving Russia the green light to launch a “minor incursion” into Ukraine, she suggested it was former President Trump’s fault Russia was getting ready to invade.
In reality, Trump had sold lethal weapons to Ukraine and installed a missile defense system in Poland. Meanwhile, former President Obama and then-VP Biden allowed Russia to take Crimea and now the current specter of an invasion looms large.

I really do think that was a gaffe and that was a mistake. And I think Joe Biden gets as much grace as maybe others because he's so experienced
JOY BEHAR: He doesn’t get a much what?
NAVARRO: Grace, as others because he’s so experienced on foreign relations. Right? He was the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the White House quickly cleaned it up.
You know – And let's remember Secretary Blinken is down there in Ukraine and they've made it now, very decisive, that Russia if they go into Ukraine, minor or major, there will be repercussions.
That being said, I think it really is a doozy for people who supported Donald Trump, who we saw kowtow to Putin for four years to be critical of Joe Biden. And you know, I do hope that there's bipartisanship when it comes to sanctions on Russia if they do anything on Ukraine. And there has been bipartisanship.
BEHAR: Do you think that Trump's ring kissing that he did with Putin contributed to the fact that Putin is emboldened now more.
SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes, absolutely.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: And the guy from Fox also, who is catering and kissing his behind.
BEHAR: Tucker. Tucker is all in for Russia.
GOLDBERG: Is it possible that Joe's not telling folks what exactly he's going to do?
[Long silence]
NAVARRO: Eh, he talked a lot. He said a lot.

That would have been an opportunity for Biden to say, oh, do you mean lunches for poverty-stricken children? Do you mean asking the country to wear mask and get vaccinated during a worldwide pandemic? Do you mean access to pharmaceuticals without having to get a second mortgage? He did not – uh, what’s the word?
GOLDBERG: Elucidate?
NAVARRO: Emphasize?
BEHAR: Whatever. He didn't list all of the things that this country, he's trying to do, not to mention that fact that we have Medicare, that we have Medicaid, that we have Social Security, that we have unemployment insurance. All what they would call socialist programs.
