CNN Panel Unfazed By Beto’s Promise to Forcefully Confiscate Your Guns

One of the biggest takeaways from Thursday’s Democratic presidential debate on ABC, was that the radical left wasn’t shy about telling the public what their plans for guns were. At one point, former Congressman Beto O’Rourke (TX) was raging and promised: “Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.” It was a radical declaration that went under-discussed during CNN’s post-debate analysis and didn’t seem to concern anyone on the panel.

“I think Beto had an outstanding night. Passionate, commanding in a way he hasn't been before. It’s as if he’s finally figured out why he's in the race,” touted former Obama official David Axelrod.

As evidence of that new-found meaning for O’Rourke’s campaign, host Anderson Cooper reminded Axelrod: “He did, at one point, you know, if you have an AK-47, AR-15, we’re going to take it away.”

Which is the nightmare of everybody who owns an AR-15,” Cooper quipped. “There’s no doubt,” Axelrod responded before moving on to further gushing about the failed Senate candidate:

There’s no doubt. And look, he was for reparations. That's a very controversial position. I'm not suggesting that what happened tonight means he will be president of the United States. But he didn't look like he belonged on that stage in the last debates. Tonight he knew why he was there and performed well.

Roughly 11 minutes later, former Hillary Clinton campaign official Jess McIntosh was ecstatic over “Democrats saying what they mean this year!

“We are just watching Democrats say what they mean. Because our ideas are not out of the mainstream. Our ideas are actually widely popular. Even about things we have been told are controversial for years, like guns,” she exclaimed.

Of course, there was no actual discussion of how a nationwide gun confiscation operation would work. Especially when one considers the Second Amendment, the estimated 16 million AR-15s in the U.S., and the folks who would rather fight than give them up.

DAVID AXELROD: But the action – the interesting stuff to me was below the leaders. I think Beto had an outstanding night. Passionate, commanding in a way he hasn't been before. It’s as if he’s finally figured out why he's in the race.

ANDERSON COOPER: He did, at one point, you know, if you have an AK-47, AR-15, we’re going to take it away.

AXELROD: Right.

COOPER: Which is the nightmare of everybody who owns an AR-15.

JESS MCINTOSH: I also want to completely agree about Democrats saying what they mean this year. That was my take away, watching this. We are just watching Democrats say what they mean. Because our ideas are not out of the mainstream. Our ideas are actually widely popular. Even about things we have been told are controversial for years, like guns.
