Brent Bozell: ‘The Cracks Are There’ in Media's Wall of Protection of Biden

August 23rd, 2022 12:35 PM

According to Brent Bozell, “the cracks are definitely there” in the media’s desperate, crumbling wall of protection of Joe Biden. The Media Research Center President appeared on the Fox Business Network's Varney and Co. late Tuesday morning to discuss examples of 2022 midterm Democrats running from the policies of the President.

Bozell offered a sarcastic explanation of what a real Democratic ad supporting Biden’s policies would sound like:

Stuart, if you are a Democrat, and you were supporting Joe Biden, this would be your message: “Hi. I am so-and-so. I’m running for Congress, I support Joe Biden, I believe we shouldn't build a wall. It should be wide open and hundreds of thousands of illegals should pour over. And while they are pouring over, there’s enough fentanyl that’s been allowed to come in in the last year that it could kill 470 million people.

I believe in Joe Biden. Support me because our economic policy will give you 17 percent inflation. It will give you the highest gas prices we've seen in years. It will give you uncontrollable debt. You won't get baby milk formula. But don't worry about that. Vote for the policies of Joe Biden and we will give you the lowest military enlistment in recorded history.

Bozell noted that Monday’s Washington Post featured a front page story on midterm Democrats running away from Biden. He added, “But you’ve asked me, Stuart, over and over again, ‘Have the media turned against Biden?” I keep saying no they haven't, but the cracks are definitely there.’”

The MRC president pointed out that journalists are attempting to report the bad news, but pretending Biden isn’t responsible:

There are stories coming out because the bad news is coming from every direction. Now, often times what they will do is report the story and not blame Biden for it. It’s getting through. The American people are not dumb. They understand who is responsible.

STUART VARNEY: Some Democrats running a new campaign ads with Republican messaging. Watch this.

[Clips of Democratic 2022 midterm ads.]

VARNEY: That’s running away from Biden, by the looks of it. That gentlemen just appearing there on the right-hand side of the screen, that is Brent Bozell, media guy. Seems to me like Democrats are just putting a lot of distance between themselves and Biden. Is that the way you see it?

BRENT BOZELL: Stuart, if you are a Democrat, and you were supporting Joe Biden, this would be your message: “Hi. I am so and so.

Vote— ”

VARNEY: Sarcasm is a low form of wit but it can be very funny.

BOZELL: Joe  Biden has got the lowest approval rating of any president in 70 years. This country believes we are on the wrong track. Seventy four percent of the American people believe we are on the wrong track. These policies aren't going to change. They are only going to get worse. So, if you are Democrat running for reelection in any contested race, you are headed for the tall grass.

VARNEY: The Republican National Committee says president Biden has gone 37 of the last 53 days without taking a single question from the press. To me I think his handlers are deliberately keeping him under wraps. What say you?

BOZELL: Yeah. And when they ask questions they are not hardball questions at all. But you’ve asked me, Stuart, over and over again, “Have the media turned against Biden?” I keep saying no they haven't but the cracks are definitely there. The story we are talking about — people running from Biden — that was on the front page of The Washington Post. There are stories coming out because the bad news is coming from every direction. Now, often times what they will do is report the story and not blame Biden for it. It’s getting through. The American people are not dumb. They understand who is responsible.

VARNEY: “The cracks are appearing.” That’s a headline I like. Okay, Brent, thanks very much as always for coming on the show. Hope we can get you back soon.

BOZELL Thank you, Stuart.
