Open Thread: Joe Biden Decides Against Presidential Bid

October 21st, 2015 12:50 PM

Flanked by his wife and the president, Vice President Joe Biden announced moments ago in the White Rose Garden that he decided to not seek the Democratic nomination for president. Oddly enough, however, after announcing he wouldn't run, he prattled on for quite a while with a speech that was essentially befitting an announcement speech. Go figure.

Consider this post today's open thread. What are your thoughts on the development? Is Hillary Clinton all but assured a smooth march to coronation? Or could "democratic socialist" Bernie Sanders prove to catch fire and capture the hearts of the leftist Democratic Party base?

In lighter news, today is "Back to the Future Day" and here in Reston, Va., where the Media Research Center is headquartered, local authorities are celebrated by ceremonially renaming the town Hill Valley, after the fictional burg of Doc Brown and Marty McFly.

Some of us are rather bummed that hoverboards, Mr. Fusion, and Jaws 19 are not a reality. How about you?
