On CNN, 'SEAL Team Six' Producer Lauds Obama, Slams Romney and McCain's 'Alternate Universe'

The film "SEAL Team Six" came under fire for being an Obama-booster just before the election. Its Obama-supporting producer Harvey Weinstein gave credibility to those charges when he lauded the President and took shots at Mitt Romney and John McCain on CNN on Monday night.

"I didn't have to do anything to remind anybody about the decision that Barack Obama made to pull the trigger on Osama bin Laden," Obama-donor Harvey Weinstein told CNN. Host Piers Morgan teed him up by calling the drama "quite overtly political in the most magnificent propaganda-style way." [Video below the break. Audio here.]

Weinstein ranted that it was "so amazing to listen to John McCain, because he and Mitt Romney were both against going into Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden. And when those guys say that al Qaeda hasn't been weakened by killing Osama bin Laden, you know, I don't understand what alternate universe they're living on."

Whispers that the film was pro-Obama grew louder when the New York Times reported that Obama played a "prominent" role in the drama, and that extra scenes of him were added at Weinstein's suggestion.

The MRC's Brent Bozell had asked that the film be released after the election, to avoid any political implications.

A transcript of the segment, which aired on November 5 on Piers Morgan Tonight at 9:30 p.m. EST, is as follows:

PIERS MORGAN: I know you're in Hollywood. I watched your movie at the weekend and found it thoroughly entertaining and quite overtly political in the most magnificent propaganda-style way. I mean, you did this clearly to remind everybody as they're about to vote, what a hero Barack Obama is, right?

HARVEY WEINSTEIN: I didn't have to do anything to remind anybody about the decision that Barack Obama made to pull the trigger on Osama bin Laden. And so amazing to listen to John McCain, because he and Mitt Romney were both against going into Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden. And when those guys say that al Qaeda hasn't been weakened by killing Osama bin Laden, you know, I don't understand what alternate universe they're living on. And the clip of Mitt Romney which was – originally was in the film, was cut on National Geographic, which did record ratings last night. But now this movie's on Netflix. And you can see it with the Mitt Romney clip that you just showed on the air.
