Joy Reid Rips Republican Criticism of Brenda Snipes: Broward the 'Deep South'

November 10th, 2018 2:54 PM

You say "Broward County," Joy Reid says "Bull Connor."

On her MSNBC show AM Joy on Saturday, Reid offered this hot take while discussing Republican criticism of Broward County, Florida election head Brenda Snipes:

"Here is the way they are treating Brenda Snipes, who is the long-time Election Supervisor there, who by the way is an older black woman in the Deep South."

Broward, the "Deep South?" Puh-lease! With its huge Latino and Jewish populations,  Broward — represented in Congress by the likes of Ted Deutch and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz — is more like the Bronx than Birmingham!

And Republicans have very good reason to, um, snipe at Snipes. Check out this clip from Tucker Carlson's show in which Lisa Boothe lays out the long litany of Snipes' misdeeds in office.

Joy Reid will never miss a chance to inject allegations of racism into the political debate--even if means absurdly analogizing Broward County to Selma, circa 1965.
