Nets Skip Shocking Number of Illegals from Middle East Crossing Border

October 16th, 2023 8:50 PM

On Monday, U.S. Border Patrol officials revealed that they were concerned about the number of illegal migrants from countries with “ties to terrorism” like Iran and Afghanistan who have flooded across the southern border. All three evening newscasts ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News ignored these revelations.

Instead, the three networks ran local weather reports (ABC), news of Rite Aid filing for bankruptcy (CBS), and Joran Van Der Sloot pleading guilty in court in relation to the Natalee Holloway murder (NBC).

By contrast, Fox News Channel’s Special Report had the story. Correspondent Griff Jenkins reported: “Border officials are concerned by the number of migrants from countries with ties to terrorism illegally crossing the U.S. Southern border.”

He then reported the alarming numbers: “In just the past 14 days of this fiscal year. More than 30 Iranians, nearly 60 Syrians, some 35 Pakistanis, 285 Afghans, and nearly 2,000 Chinese have arrived.”

According to Jenkins, this included “at least two Iranian single adult males apprehended that landed on the terrorist screening watch list meaning that they have potential ties to terrorism and could pose a serious threat to our national security.”

“There have been four Iranians apprehended in this sector in two weeks,” Jenkins added. “Two Lebanese men in their 20's and one Egyptian man in his 40's were apprehended here at the end of last week, all remain in custody while undergoing additional screening.”

Before finishing up his report, Jenkins added that “border officials also worry about those known got-aways, migrants seen but not brought into custody.”

Jenkins reported there was an astonishing “16,000 in just 14 days.”

GRIFF JENKINS: Good evening, Bret. And border officials are concerned by the number of migrants from countries with ties to terrorism illegally crossing the U.S. Southern border. In just the past 14 days of this fiscal year. More than 30 Iranians, nearly 60 Syrians, some 35 Pakistanis, 285 Afghans and nearly 2,000 Chinese have arrived. Now CBP sources also confirmed, Bret, to Fox News that there have been at least two Iranian single adult males apprehended that landed on the terrorist screening watch list meaning that they have potential ties to terrorism and could pose a serious threat to our national security. As you look at our live Fox drone shot here in Eagle Pass, there have been four Iranians apprehended in this sector in two weeks. Two Lebanese men in their 20's and one Egyptian man in his 40's were apprehended here at the end of last week, all remain in custody while undergoing additional screening. Local pecan farmer Magali Urbina recently met with the border patrol sector chief here who share concerns over a terrorist crossing the border.

MAGALI URBINA: He believes that it's just a matter of time or it's inevitable that something happen. Seeing people come into the country that we know nothing about. That concern has always been with me because of what I’ve seen.

JENKINS: And, Bret, border officials also worry about those known got-aways, migrants seen but not brought into custody. Sources tell Fox News there have been more than 16,000 in just 14 days. Bret?
