Nets Skip BOMBSHELL Report FBI Obstructing Congress's Hunter Probe

July 18th, 2023 9:18 PM

On Tuesday afternoon, The New York Post published a bombshell story revealing that the FBI sought to obstruct the congressional Oversight investigation into the “ongoing” Hunter Biden legal case. According to a letter obtained by The Post, the FBI urged an agent who was set to testify before the House Oversight Committee not to do so. ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News all ignored this story.

Instead, the networks obsessed over a legal battle between restaurants over the legal rights to “Taco Tuesday” (ABC), the Powerball Jackpot numbers (CBS), and new details into the death of rapper Tupac who died nearly 27 years ago (NBC).

Special Report on Fox News did cover the story toward the end of the newscast. Anchor Bret Baier kicked it off by airing a clip from his June 28 interview with FBI whistleblower Gary Shapley who revealed at the time that those investigating Hunter’s various crimes:

SHAPLEY: We weren't allowed to ask questions about that. We weren't allowed to ask about the big guy. We weren't allowed to include certain names and document requests and search warrants. You know, there were definitely hindrances that I’ve never seen before in my 14 years concerning this investigation that didn't allow us to follow through in an investigation of any other individual to include President Biden.

Baier then jumped in to report that the New York Post was “backing that up.” The agent was now “expected to decline to respond to House Oversight Committee questions about the ongoing case involving the first son,” he added.

“The general counsel sent a letter saying don't do it just hours before the agent was set to testify even though a source tells the Post that the FBI knew of several scheduled Monday depositions for several days,” Baier said.

Instead, the FBI urged the agent to “instead refer such questions to the FBI's Office of Congressional Affairs,” according to The Post and Baier.

This bias by omission from the three networks was made possible by Allstate on ABC, Salonpas on CBS, and Progressive on NBC. Their information is linked.
