MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle Suggests GOP is Party of Racists & Anti-Semites

November 29th, 2022 12:45 AM

On MSNBC's low-rated show The 11th Hour, host Stephanie Ruhle during a segment on former President Donald Trump's dinner with white supremacist Nick Fuentes and anti-Semite and degenerate rapper Kanye West, Ruhle decided to smear the entire Republican Party by suggesting they are the party of racists and anti-Semites despite the fact that Republicans from all corners of the party have rightly condemned Trump for keeping bad company.

After airing a clip of former President George H.W. Bush condemning former KKK grand wizard and then-candidate for Governor of Louisiana David Duke for his racist and anti-Semitic views, Ruhle referenced a tweet by Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy which strongly criticized Trump's dinner with Fuentes and West.

She then whined that "he was responding to the Trump dinner saying this is not who the Republican Party is. But here's the thing. We just listened to George Bush. It might not be who the Republican Party was. But it's absolutely who they are today."

Responding to Ruhle, turncoat Republican and Lincoln Project grifter Stuart Stevens claimed that "listening to that clip from President Bush is like an artifact from a lost civilization. And in that campaign, they got a former Republican governor Dave Treen to run the campaign against Republican David Duke."

"This is just what happens when you don't believe in anything. You allow whoever says they will help you get elected just for power to take over. And that's what the Republican Party has done," Stevens whined.

Stevens continued kvetching that "this is what the Republican Party wants to be." Ruhle then jumped in once more to agree with Stevens' smear, claiming "it's who they are."

Ruhle never offered proof that the GOP is the party of racists & anti-Semites other than pointing to Trump's dinner last week.

Not only did she fail to offer any evidence to back up her hateful smear of half the country, but she was defiant. When called out on Twitter shortly after she made those comments, she refused to apologize or retract what she said:

STEPHANIE RUHLE: David Duke, former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. You know, Stewart earlier, we shared Republican Bill Cassidy's tweet. He was responding to the Trump dinner saying this is not who the Republican Party is. But here's the thing. We just listened to George Bush. It might not be who the Republican Party was. But it's absolutely who they are today.

STUART STEVENS: Yeah. Listening to that clip from President Bush is like an artifact from a lost civilization. And in that campaign, they got a former Republican governor Dave Treen to run the campaign against Republican David Duke. It's just—look. Where the party is now, though, is not surprising.

I mean go back to when Trump called for a complete ban on Muslims. And no one in the party or very few said anything. This is just what happens when you don't believe in anything. You allow whoever says they will help you get elected just for power to take over. And that's what the Republican Party has done.

We used to say, I don't know, some of us believe that it turned out to be completely false, but that character is destiny. And that's what happened to the Republican Party. The character of the Republican Party has proved to be its destiny. And it's heartbreaking to some of us who worked in the party, there's no way to deny it. This is what the Republican Party wants to be.

RUHLE: And it's who they are.
