SILENCE: CNN & MSNBC Primetime Ignore Bombshell Durham Report

February 14th, 2022 11:47 PM

Just like their broadcast network counterparts, the primetime hours of both CNN and MSNBC completely ignored the bombshell court filings from Special Counsel John Durham showing that Hillary Clinton’s campaign allegedly spied on then-President Donald Trump both at Trump Tower in New York and the White House. In fact, with the exception of a brief segment on Jake Tapper's show in the 5 pm hour on CNN, the leftist media spent the entire day ignoring the revelations.

In the primetime cable news block which is generally defined as running from 8-11 pm EST, CNN and MSNBC decided it was more important to obsess over topics like former President Trump's finances, attacking Texas' voter integrity legislation, and the Democrat's January 6 committee.

Credit where it's due, CNN's The Lead host Jake Tapper did cover the Durham news but he only devoted a measly two minutes and forty-seven seconds to it over halfway through the second hour of his show.

"In our politics lead now, new revelations about the 2016 presidential race by the Special Counsel appointed by former Trump administration Attorney General Bill Barr," Tapper announced. "In 2019, as you might remember, Barr first assigned U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation. And then before Barr left office in 2020, he made Durham a Special Counsel."

"Durham has since indicted Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman as well as a Russian analyst, both of them for allegedly lying to the FBI. Both of them are pleading not guilty," Tapper said, giving viewers the background information before updating them on the latest developments.

"Now, in a court filing late Friday night, Durham says that he found new information about researchers who supported Hillary Clinton" Tapper noted before bringing in senior justice correspondent Evan Perez.

He asked Perez "what do we know about these researchers for Hillary Clinton and what Durham is learning about their activities?" Perez explained that the researchers were "supporters of Hillary Clinton" and they believed that there were "suspicious connections between Russian-made phones and Trump Tower" and the Trump White House.

On the other side of the coin, Durham said this "was being used as essentially to dirty up former (...) President Trump, trying to get the intelligence community essentially to believe that Trump was in cahoots with the Russians."

Turning his focus specifically to former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman, Tapper asked Perez "what's the back story on Sussman?" Perez had to essentially give a crash course on Sussmann because it's likely a name CNN viewers have never heard of since the Durham probe was largely ignored when Jeff Zucker was at the network's helm.

Perez revealed that Sussman never disclosed "who he was working for when he met with the FBI. This is part of what this filing was for was part of Sussman’s case. And one of the things Durham says is that Sussman provided this information to an agency, the CIA, showing some of this data trying again to get the intelligence community to believe that Donald Trump was in cahoots with the Russians."

Even the two minutes and forty-seven seconds that Tapper and Perez spent on the Durham story is better than totally ignoring it like everyone else in the leftist media.

This bias by omission from CNN & MSNBC’s primetime shows was made possible by the endorsements from Google and Fidelity on MSNBC & Subaru and Arby’s on CNN. Their information is linked so you can let them know about the biased news they fund.

JAKE TAPPER: In our politics lead now new revelations about the 2016 presidential race by the Special Counsel appointed by former Trump administration Attorney General Bill Barr. In 2019, as you might remember, Barr first assigned U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation. And then before Barr left office in 2020, he made Durham a Special Counsel. Durham has since indicted Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman as well as a Russian analyst, both of them for allegedly lying to the FBI. Both of them are pleading not guilty. Now, in a court filing late Friday night, Durham says that he found new information about researchers who supported Hillary Clinton. CNN's Evan Perez joins us now. And Evan what do we know about these researchers for Hillary Clinton and what Durham is learning about their activities?

EVAN PEREZ: Well, Jake, so these researchers were supporters of Hillary Clinton. And what they believed that they saw was suspicious connections between Russian-made phones and Donald Trump's you know, office at the Trump Tower, as well as what they said was, suspicious traffic with the Executive Office of the President. Now, this is the allegation that Durham says was being used as essentially to dirty up the former President, President Trump, trying to get the intelligence community essentially to believe that Trump was in cahoots with the Russians. Again, all of this data that these researchers had access to, they essentially used it. Essentially just to isolate it to Donald Trump, and show these types of internet traffic between these Russian-made phones and the Executive Office of the President. Durham says that none of that is true. None of this is suspicious. This is just data that happens all the time and these phones were being used even before Donald Trump became President.

TAPPER: Okay. And Durham made this revelation in a court filing late Friday night related to Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman. Who he has received–he has gotten an indictment against Susman. Sussman says he’s not guilty. What’s the back story on Sussman?

PEREZ: Well, Sussman was the campaign lawyer for Hillary Clinton's campaign and Democrats. He never disclosed according to Durham, who he was working for when he met with the FBI. This is part of what this filing was for was part of Sussman’s case. And one of the things Durham says is that Sussman provided this information to an agency, the CIA, showing some of this data trying again to get the intelligence community to believe that Donald Trump was in cahoots with the Russians.

TAPPER: All right. Curiouser and curiouser. Evan Perez thank you so much.
