It’s time to find out who had the Worst Media Take of the Week! This interactive series is where you — our loyal NewsBusters visitors and MRC supporters — get to vote on which leftist journalist or celebrity had the worst media take of the week.
Much appreciation to all who voted last week via NewsBusters and the MRC’s various social media sites (Facebook, Instagram and X.com).
The results of the Worst Media Take of the Week are in and the winner is…
Whoopi Goldberg!
The co-host of ABC’s The View won with 65 percent of the vote. Goldberg took first place for bizarrely asserting that America “doesn’t have a government” and begged for NATO’s help. Goldberg’s The View colleague Sunny Hostin came in second place with 29 percent. Finishing last was comedian and former E! network talk show host Chelsea Handler at 6 percent.
The following is MRC president David Bozell’s introduction of the nominees:
WINNER (65 percent of the vote)
Whoopi Goldberg: We Don’t Have a Government! Will NATO Help Us?
“Where is everybody? Where is everybody else? We come to everybody’s aid. We help everybody. NATO, they came and helped us after 9/11. Where is everybody?...Where is the government? Do you realize we don’t have a government!”
— Co-host Whoopi Goldberg on ABC’s The View, January 7.
SECOND PLACE (29 percent of the vote)
Sunny Hostin: Maduro’s Capture is “Piracy” and “Imperialism”
“Isn’t anyone concerned about the fact that what we’re doing is almost piracy? It’s like imperialism. We’re going to another country and we’re taking their natural resources for ourselves. And on top of it, if we can do something like this, who is to say that Vladimir Putin, then, doesn’t go to Ukraine and arrest [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy?...Who’s to say China won’t go and take Taiwan over?”
— Co-host Sunny Hostin on ABC’s The View, January 5.
THIRD PLACE (6 percent of the vote)
Chelsea Handler: Trump Administration Is “Curing Science Through Death”
“Frankenstein is up for Best Picture!...It is the story of a surgeon obsessed with curing death through science, unlike our current administration, which is obsessed with curing science through death.”
— Chelsea Handler hosting the Critics Choice Awards simulcast on the USA and E! networks, January 4.
Thanks again to all who participated!
