October 20th, 2025 3:21 PM

We’ve got a new interactive series called Worst Media Take of the Week, where you — our loyal NewsBusters visitors and MRC supporters — get to vote on which leftist journalist or celebrity had the worst media take of the week.

Much appreciation to all who voted last week via NewsBusters and the MRC’s various social media sites (Facebook, Instagram and X.com).

The results of the Worst Media Take of the Week are in and the winner is…

Kathy Griffin!

The comedian won in a squeaker with 42 percent of the vote. Griffin took first place for declaring that President Donald Trump and “professional Nazi” Elon Musk stole the election. MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson was barely edged out, he came in second place with 41 percent. Actress/singer Bette Midler finished in third place with 17 percent.

The following is a montage of all the nominees:

WINNER (42 percent of the vote)

Kathy Griffin: Trump and “Professional Nazi” Elon Musk Stole the Election

“I don’t think he [Donald Trump] won in a free and fair election. You heard me. I’m coming out and saying it myself. I don’t care if that means I look crazy because Elon Musk – who’s this other Nazi guy running around town who owns X….He’s a professional Nazi in my humble opinion. And he’s good friends with Trump….He was giving out million-dollar checks to people if they would vote for Trump. That’s illegal. It’s unconstitutional and illegal.”
— Comedian Kathy Griffin on her podcast Talk Your Head Off with Kathy Griffin, October 15.

SECOND PLACE (41 percent of the vote)

Jason Johnson: Everybody Who Loves Democracy Is Antifa

“The idea of going after Antifa is like saying we’re going after dog lovers. Who doesn’t love dogs? If you’re a United States citizen, right? And you like democracy, then you don’t like fascism. Everybody who loves democracy is technically Antifa.”
— MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle, October 13.

THIRD PLACE (17 percent of the vote)

Bette Midler Sings to Stephen Colbert: “You Never Kissed the Orange Ass”

“It must have been cold here at The Late Show, despite the high ratings and awards. You need a gig that’s more worthwhile now that you’re more in demand than Epstein’s file. Did you ever know that you’re my Frodo? You stand for what’s right with wit and class. Thank you. And I hold you high as the great eagles ‘cause you never kissed the orange ass.”
— Actress/singer Bette Midler singing to the tune of “Wind Beneath My Wings” to Stephen Colbert on CBS’s The Late Show, October 14.

Thanks again to all who participated!
