NewsBusters Podcast: Media Hang Tough on Afghanistan, But Will It Last?

September 1st, 2021 6:57 PM

With a torrent of news to discuss about the disastrous U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, weekday evening/Sunday morning analyst Nick “Night Train” Fondacaro and I had plenty to talk about on Wednesday’s episode of the NewsBusters podcast.

We first dove into litany of liberal journalists that have provided admirable and stinging coverage holding the Biden administration to account on Afghanistan. But that aside, there was a key question: Will it last?

The White House press briefings have been one such outlet for journalists to show that they’re perfectly capable of holding their own side to account and it was during one of those briefings that Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich asked Press Secretary Jen Psaki about claims from Gold Star families (and captured on video) of President Biden checking his watch during Sunday’s dignified transfer of remains at Dover Air Base.

After taking some time to go through a new NewsBusters study about the liberal media’s lack of interest in crime running rampant in Democratic cities, we closed with some short reflections on 9/11 in light of the end of the war in Afghanistan and the upcoming 20th anniversary of the terror attacks.
