CBS Late Night: Knuckle Sandwiches to the Unvaccinated!

June 8th, 2021 7:45 PM

According to CBS late night talk show host James Corden and his The Late Late Show staff, it isn’t enough to offer Americans food or prizes to get the vaccine. No, no. People who don’t want the vaccine deserve a "knuckle sandwich."

During his monologue, Corden was going off on people who are refusing to get the vaccine.

“Vaccination rates in the United States have started to decline,” said Corden during his monologue. “Which means we're on pace to fall just short of President Biden's goal of having seventy percent of the country partially vaccinated by the fourth of July. Biden could end up just shy of his goal by three percent. See? This is exactly why you don't set goals.”

Despite the fact that Americans shouldn’t care about a politician's percentage goal, Corden continued by saying: “And this is after Shake Shack offered free food to vaccinated people. If that doesn't incentivize you, well, I'm afraid nothing will.”

Corden then asked his band and some people on his team what should be done in order to convince people to get the vaccine. “I think we should stop offering anything,” said co-head writer of The Late Late Show with James Corden, Ian Karmel. “The only thing we should offer people who don't want the vaccine is a knuckle sandwich.”

“Really?” Corden asked jokingly. “Physical violence?” “Physical violence,” answered Karmel. Karmel continued to explain how people who refuse the vaccine should just be excluded from everything. “I think we should be done offering them things,” said Karmel. “And we should start excluding them from things.”

Corden agreed with him: “I think are you right, I actually do. But then how, the problem is there is no way to know that people aren't lying about it.” But don’t worry- Karmel has a solution. “Start bringing your card,” lectured Karmel. “Let's make that a normal thing. If you don't bring your card, you can't go to SeaWorld or whatever.”

It’s so interesting watching elite celebrities lecturing Americans about how they have to get a vaccine to do normal things in life.

JAMES CORDEN: Democratic Senator Joe Manchin said that he would not vote for it, meaning Republicans now have enough votes to block the bill. Here's Manchin explaining his position

JOE MANCHIN: So I'm going fight for this, I think the Republicans will fight for this and understand that we must come together in a voting rights bill in a bipartisan way.

CORDEN: So, that's not going to happen. Joe Manchin often undermines the Democrats' agenda by siding with Republicans. But that's his thing, he's the bad boy of the group. He's Keith Richards, Dennis rodman, and A.J. From the Backstreet Boys all rolled into one. Or, look at it this way-- he's just a guy with great hair who says no to everything. He's the Nick Bernstein of the Democratic Party. Moving on, vaccination rates in the United States have started to decline. Which means we're on pace to fall just short of President Biden's goal of having seventy percent of the country partially vaccinated by the fourth of July. Biden could end up just shy of his goal by three percent. See? This is exactly why you don't set goals. Don't do it. Don’t do it. Vaccination rates are declining. And this is after Shake Shack offered free food to vaccinated people. If that doesn't incentivize you, well, I'm afraid nothing will. What can with which do? What more can we offer? Like for people to get vaccinated?

TIM YOUNG: Blow jobs

CORDEN: That is a good one. I mean we are laughing. He's got a point. What else could we do, what else can we do, Ian?

IAN KARMEL:   I think we should stop offering anything. The only thing we should offer people who don't want the vaccine is a knuckle sandwich.

REGGIE WATTS: Yeah!

CORDEN:  James: Really? Physical violence?

KARMEL: Physical violence.

JAMES: That say long way from-- I mean you've really got both ends of the spectrum there. One [bleep] Job and one is a punch in the face.

YOUNG: There is a balance there.

JAMES: I actually like both at the same time, God. We [bleep] Takes some turns, don't we? I do think we've got to-- we've got to find a way.

KARMEL:  I don’t Know-I think we should be done offering them things. And we should start excluding them from things

CORDEN: I think are you right, I actually do. But then how, the problem is there is no way to know that people aren't lying about it.

KARMEL: Start bringing your card. Let's make that a normal thing. If you don't bring your card, you can't go to Sea World or whatever.

CORDEN: But the card is literally a piece of cardboard that I think it would take self in minutes for someone to copy.
