A week after NBC's
Law & Order
aired an episode revolving around an Ann Coulter-like character (
NewsBusters item with video
) whose anti-embryonic stem cell research position so angered a student suffering from Parkinson's disease that he tried to kill her (but his gunshot kills an innocent student), tonight's (Friday) episode is inspired by the
Ted Haggard
case -- though with the added twist of murder. From
TV Guide.com
:
NBC.com's plot summary suggests the Haggard character may not be the real murderer:“A popular reverend is suspected of a gay actor's murder when it is discovered the victim threatened to out the pastor and expose his hypocritical stance on homosexuality.”
“After a gay actor is found shot to death, Detectives Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) and Nina Cassady (Milena Govich) arrive at the scene and discover an email that was sent to a well-known pastor. In the email, the actor admonishes him for speaking out against gays. Asst. D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) discovers a note left behind that he suspects may be a cover for the real murderer.”Law & Order airs Friday nights at 10pm EST/PST, 9pm CST/MST.
