MSNBC's Schultz and Guests Pine for Getting Limbaugh 'Off the Air'

March 6th, 2012 9:00 AM

On Monday's The Ed Show on MSNBC, host Ed Schultz and guests Terry O'Neil of the National Organization for Women and former Democratic congressional candidate Kristal Ball were unaccepting of Rush Limbaugh's apology for disparaging Georgetown Law School student Sandra Fluke, with Schultz suggesting that now is the best time to push Limbaugh off the air.

O'Neill claimed that there were "overtones of violence" to the conservative talk radio host's comments about Fluke. O'Neill:

Oh, absolutely he should be fired. ... Yeah, he should be fired. He shouldn't be on the air. ... When Rush Limbaugh decides to attack an individual woman in the incredibly aggressive way that he attacked her - and really also there were overtones of violence in this, in this ongoing three-day attack on Sandra Fluke. When he does that, he makes it impossible to have a serious conversation about these important issues. He should be off the air.

Moments later, Schultz seemed to cheer on the possibility of Limbaugh losing his talk show:

I have to say, I think his ratings are overstated, and I think you're going to see a lot about that in the industry coming up. I think this facade surrounding Rush that he is the big king and he is diminished dramatically. If there is a time to get him off the air, this is the push. I mean, if women in this country are serious about what they hear on the free airwaves of America, there's no better time.
