Meyers Wonders Which 'A******' Will Win 2024 GOP Primary

November 17th, 2022 10:00 AM

Wednesday marked the eighth say since Election Day 2022, but NBC Late Night host Seth Meyers used it to get an early start on his 2024 commentary. Regarding a possible Donald Trump versus Ron DeSantis primary, Meyers admitted he did not know which “ass[bleep]” would win, but he was looking forward to the entertainment of it all.

Regarding Trump, Meyers claimed, “I have no idea what's going to happen in 2024, but we can't just take it for granted that Trump is toast and assume he'll quietly go away. He's still a deeply nefarious presence in American politics.”

As for DeSantis, Meyers played the race card, “I mean, sure, he's facing a potential primary challenge from a popular Florida governor backed by the GOP establishment, and as we all know from history, that usually works out.  And Ron DeSantis doesn't have the sparkling personality of Jeb Bush, DeSantis is like if a mailbox could be racist.”

Later in his diatribe, Meyers conceded, “I have no idea which of these ass[bleep] will out-ass[bleep] the other ass[bleep] and win but it will certainly be interesting to watch them destroy each other.”

Meyers even gave Trump some free advice, “for example, I just learned the other day that Ron DeSantis's middle name -- and this is true -- is Dion. Ron Dion DeSantis sounds like the album your grandmother puts on when she wants to remember what young love felt like. Can you imagine how much fun Trump is going to have when he finds that out? ‘We call him Ron 'Celine Dion' DeSantis, isn't that right? My heart will go on, but his won't, because his campaign is sinking like the Titanic.’ Boom there's your first tweet when you get your account back, Donald, free of charge.”

Meyers is right to say what happens in the 2024 primary is anybody’s guess, but one thing is for certain: late night hosts will relegate themselves to the realm of name calling.
