Gleeful Stephen Colbert CELEBRATES Impeachment, Mocks 'Sad' Pelosi

Listen to the Article!

In times of stark national polarization, one can always count on late-night host Stephen Colbert to further cement that divide, as he did on Wednesday’s Late Show in cheering for impeachment. At the very least, however, he was honest in calling out Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for her fraudulent display of somberness during the impeachment vote earlier in the day.

https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gifUnlike Pelosi, Colbert did not conceal his elation for President Trump’s impending impeachment in any way. His exuberance was uncontainable; so much so that the show began with a “merry impeachment” jingle sung by Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler characters:

Hark! Hear us Dems. Trump we condemn. We're here to say, Trump is guil-tay. For obstructing, quid-pro-quo-ing, power abuse, must cut him loose. Articles two? That's just a few.

The leftist spin on a Christmas classic was enough to make anyone’s ears bleed as it went on:

There's more to add. That makes him bad. Cheats on his wife. Also second wife and the third wife. Mery, Merry, Merry Trump impeachment. Merry, Merry, Merry Trump impeachment. Merry, Merry, Merry Trump impeachment.

Colbert then ostensibly mocked Pelosi for her contrived front of “sadness” during Wednesday’s proceedings:

Now, in her opening statement, Nancy Pelosi made sure everyone knows she's real sad about this…"But, first, sadly, we are solemnly sad, about the solemn, sad, solemnness that is this sad, sad, solemn sad day. Sad." That's her, not me. That's her.

The impeachment of a duly elected President of the United States should be handled with grave importance and the utmost seriousness. Colbert’s excitement is telling of his disregard for the Constitution he purports to be protecting.

NANCY PELOSI CLIP: Very sadly now, our Founder's vision of a republic is under threat from actions from the White House. Sadly, the American people have witnessed further wrongs of the President. Today is a national civics lesson, though a sad one. I solemnly and sadly open the debate on the impeachment of the President of the United States.

COLBERT: "But, first, sadly, we are solemnly sad, about the solemn, sad, solemnness that is this sad, sad, solemn sad day. Sad." That's her, not me. That's her.
