Univision's NYE Show 'For The Entire Family' Features Pill-Popping Anthem

Univision has big plans for its New Years' Eve special, featuring a lineup of popular Hispanic artists. Among them, rapper Farruko is set to perform “his chart-topping hit Pepas” (Pills), which begs the question: why does Univision's show, billed as “filled with love, music, and culture for the entire family, feature this ode to pill-popping?

At a time when the nation reels from an increase in overdose deaths brought on by the pandemic, it is worth asking: who at Univision signed off on "Pepas" as suitable entertainment?

If this kind of message is an indicator of the kind of programming in store for the Hispanic families who watch Univision in 2022, the network will need more than good luck to keep them tuned in. Tip for the corporate masterminds at the network; just take a look at where Latinx stands with the community at large (hint: nowhere): maybe then you will get the message.
