Harris Calls for AI Censorship, Assumes Americans Too Dumb to Tell ‘Fact from Fiction’

Vice President Kamala Harris, unsatisfied with the already-prevalent Big Tech censorship, called for suppression of artificial intelligence—because, according to her, people can’t tell fact from fiction.

Speaking from the U.S. Embassy in London on Wednesday, Harris took a swipe at AI, calling it an “existential for democracy” because “people around the world cannot discern fact from fiction.” Harris specifically cited “AI-enabled mis- and disinformation” as the cause of this existential threat. But the vice president offered solutions to the alleged existential threat of AI which were, you guessed it: immediate censorship.

“These threats, without question, are profound, and they demand global action,” Harris claimed of AI during the 15-minute sermon. “But let us be clear: There are additional threats that also demand our action — threats that are currently causing harm and which, to many people, also feel existential.”

Harris drew bizarre comparisons between AI and an hypothetical abusive partner to make the case why imminent measures are needed to reign in what she described as a threat to humanity.

“When a woman is threatened by an abusive partner with explicit deep fake photographs, is that not existential for her?,” she asked, using the odd metaphor as an example. “When a young father is wrongfully imprisoned because of biased AI facial recognition? Is that not existential for his family? And when people around the world cannot discern fact from fiction because of a flood of AI enabled mis and disinformation. I ask, is that not existential for democracy?”

Harris encouraged global leaders to weigh in what she called the “full spectrum” (whatever that means) of risks posed by AI. “I offer that we must consider and address the full spectrum of AI risk — threats to humanity as a whole, as well as threats to individuals, communities, to our institutions, and to our most vulnerable populations,” she added. “We must manage all these dangers to make sure that AI is truly safe.”

The vice president’s speech came a day after her boss, President Joe Biden, unleashed an executive order, calling on AI to shield Americans from so-called inequalities.
