I must confess I had low expectations for Donald Trump’s live tweeting of the President Obama speech Sunday night. Not because I doubt Trump’s twitter skills, mind you, but more because the speech was a complete dud, totally lacking in substance and devoid of any semblance of leadership.
However, I should have known Trump would not disappoint.
Late in his lecture, Obama made a point about who the Muslims in our society are, and said this:
“Muslim Americans are our friends and our neighbors, our co-workers, our sports heroes—and, yes, they are our men and women in uniform who are willing to die in defense of our country,” Obama said in his Oval Office speech. “We have to remember that.”
To which, Trump tweeted:
Obama said in his speech that Muslims are our sports heroes. What sport is he talking about, and who? Is Obama profiling?

Thus beginning the great lib hissy-fit of December 6th, a date which will live in lunacy.
Just prior to listing all the heroic Muslim athletes of greatness. Deadspin described Trump as, “a fascist golem made of flypaper…”
Hilarious that Deadspin would describe Trump as the fascist and not the President who is publicly advocating the elimination of the constitutionally enumerated rights of Americans, while denying them due process. But hey, Golem, or something.
Talking Points Memo, weighed-in as well. Citing Trump’s personal connections with Muslim athletes by saying:
“As Gawker noted, Trump himself won the 2007 Muhammad Ali Entrepreneur Award and met the former heavyweight boxing champion and follower of Sufi Islam at the event.
Mother Jones reported that Trump is also close friends with Mike Tyson, the former boxer and convert to Islam, and tried to help prevent him from being imprisoned for a 1992 rape conviction.”
Nothing really explosive there, I just thought it was totes adorable to have TPM cite Gawker and Mother Jones in the space of two sentences. Credibility must no longer be a thing, apparently.
The SportsGrid opined that Trump’s mind was unable to process the sophistication of Obama’s message. Claiming that, “Knowing how Trump’s alleged mind allegedly works, he’s of course thinking Aladdin and flying carpets and did Omar Shariff ever play for the Pittsburgh Steelers?”
As well as including a choice Trump-themed tweet:

The Huffington Post quipped that, “Trump might be shocked to learn that America not only has a number of Muslim athletic heroes, but he has also met several of them.” Before going on to include a list of pics of Trump with Mike Tyson, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar and others.
And the New York Daily News took enough time off from prayer-shaming Christians and calling Wayne LaPierre a terrorist, to post a list of 10 Muslim athletes.
Now, if only we could get the media to get as excited about investigating Hillary’s emails, as they’ve shown in naming Muslim athletes…
